PML-N beats PTI in NA-162 by-election

CHICHAWATNI: According to unconfirmed and unofficial results, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) candidate Chaudhry Tufail Jutt has won NA-162 by-election, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate stood second, ARY News reported.

According to unofficial results, Tufail Jutt received 74, 580 votes to win the election, while PTI got 63, 211 votes to stand runner-up. The PML-N activists in the constituency resorted to celebrations and danced bhangra.

The NA-162 seat, won by PML-N, was left vacant after PTI’s Rai Hassan Nawaz was declared unqualified.

National Assembly (NA) member of PTI Rai Hasan Nawaz was disqualified by an election tribunal for hiding that he was a bank loan defaulter.

Rai Hasan Nawaz, who was elected into the National Assembly from NA-162 Sahiwal, had taken loan of Rs220 million from a bank in 1992 but did not repay the money.

What will PTI do when all the State Machinery is being used against them. These Old Status Quo parties (PPP and PML-N) will see their end just like the MQM. Results of last 4-5 by elections in Punjab has been really really close. Some of PTI candidates have lost by few thousand votes, I wonder if rigging is playing role here. In either case this mean PTI have great chance to upset N league in 2018.

Imran khan has stopped talking about next elections to be based on biometric voting. He needs to counter corruption and talk about this issue in his jalsas as well. 2018 is not too far.

Ask yourself these questions

How many Bi Elections did PML-N win between 2002 and 2008 when PML-Q had both Federal and Provnicial Governments? Zero

How many Bi Elections did PML-N win between 2008 and 2013 when PPP had Federal Government? Barely any, PPP won more than 90% of the by elections in Punjab.

During By Elections, people generally tend to vote for the Sitting Government because they know they will get no development funds if they vote for the Opposition Party. What happened to that 2.5 Billion Rupees package for Lodhran that Nawaz Sharif announced? The mere fact that PTI came even this close is an achievement itself. Keep in mind during By Elections, voter turnout is low, and SHO's, Patwari's, DPO's, DCO's and Education Department alone are competent enough to generate 15-20 thousand votes for the Sitting Government candidate. So PML-N candidates started with a lead of 20 000 votes.

The reason why PML-N is loosing track is simple, their lack of governance. Just look at the economy, police, corruption, unemployment, inflation, foreign policy. You name it, in every indicator we are going down thanks to the incompetence of PML-N. Corruption is legalized where the PM is free to commit corruption as he pleases.
