PM warns: India will sink if Opposition doesn’t relent

Manmohan appeals parties to cooperate, says country could meet Europe’s economic fate

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday warned that the country would sink like Europe if the Opposition continued to derail the winter session of Parliament thereby hampering the process of introducing crucial reforms. "As you all know that the global economy is facing serious difficulties, and if we don't manage our affairs well, we can also go down," he told reporters on arrival at the Parliament House for the session. The country was poised for sustained, equitable economic growth and it was time for all parties to cooperate, he said.

Singh urged the Opposition not to boycott or paralyse Parliament adding that it would be better if all the parties realised that some very important pieces of legislation that would be presented in this session were for "our country's sustained development and prosperity”.

This is very true. A lot of very critical legislature and bills need to be pass in this winter session. There is already a growing concern in industrial corridors regarding the government paralysis on critical reforms. Situation is precarious.

He was talking about the economic reform bills to be tabled before the parliament. The opposition is stuck on 2g scam and stalling the procedures. The PM is right in saying we need to speed up reforms to overcome global economic down turn.

The congress is forgetting its past when it shamelessly stalled parliaments during NDA regime, even boycotting George Fernandes, the then Defense Minister.

Opposition should relent because:

1. They are doing scams after scams that too in uncountable 0s
2. They are unable to put cap on inflation
3. They are unable to stop the depreciation of indian rupee
4. They are providing 5star facilities to the terrorists

i am with you man, BUT i think people charged with corruption should be given life sensentence behind bars and should have their indian citizenship revoked. chidambaram should be the first on the list. cant wait till BJP ousts the congress party MODI for PM.
