China, Pakistan launch International Industry-Education Cooperation Alliance Initiative​

The China-Pakistan International Industry-Education Cooperation Alliance Initiative was launched at the recent China-Pakistan Seminar on “Internet+” International Education and Industry-Education Integration in Beijing.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Moinul Haque addressed the seminar, hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange, jointly organised by TANG International Education Group and Pakistan’s embassy in Beijing, as part of the 23rd China Annual Conference and Expo for International Education.

“A large number of Chinese enterprises are working in Pakistan on such projects. They need skilled labour force,” the Pakistani ambassador said, adding, “Recently I had the opportunity to visit some big names in Shenzhen, China, and was impressed by their innovation, hard work, and focus on people’s training. China has emerged as one of the world leaders in AI, computing, IoT, and big data. We would like to emulate the achievements of China in Pakistan.”

It is learned that almost 10% of the youth in Pakistan are unemployed and have no vocational, technical or commercial skills. Meanwhile, with the progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), demand for skilled labour force is becoming more and more urgent.
It is under such a backdrop that the seminar was hosted. “Chinese colleges’ investment on modern international education platforms and digital curriculum resources has helped train local Pakistani teachers, and provided a large number of scholarships.

They also provided living allowances for the poorest students in Pakistan so they could have access to learning and life-changing opportunities,” said Li Jinsong, President of the TANG International Education Group.

In the same spirit, the China-Pakistan International Industry-Education Cooperation Alliance will facilitate the introduction of 210 Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) disciplines of China to Pakistan, the establishment of 36 TVET excellence centres, the provision of international courses, and opportunities of pursuing further studies and jobs in China in its following work.

“The alliance has been under preparation since August 2022. It has garnered the support of over 500 bilateral TVET colleges, universities, and enterprises,” said Ammar Muhammad, Secretary General of China-Pakistan International Industry-Education Cooperation Alliance.

“We aim to build a bilateral platform for China and Pakistan to exchange information on industrial and educational information, share success stories and work together in various programmes so as to empower Pakistan’s young people, promote employment, support the construction of Special Economic Zones and enhance Pakistan’s exports,” he added.
On this occasion, over 20 agreements were signed on bilateral education and industrial cooperation projects.

During PM’s visit: Pakistan, China all set to sign $10-15 Billion pacts​

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China are all set to sign different agreements worth $10-15 billion during the ongoing visit of Prime Minister Imran Khan including rollover of $4 billion deposits, fresh loan of $4 billion, and other projects.

However, both sides have so far been unable to make progress on the much-delayed multibillion-dollar project of Mainline-1 (ML-1) despite making of efforts, as the financing agreement has not yet been firmed up.

Pakistan’s federal cabinet also granted approval for signing of much-awaited industrial cooperation between the two countries under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). “Pakistani authorities are expecting that the ongoing visit of PM Imran Khan will pave the way for boosting bilateral relations and minimum size of cooperation will be over $10 billion,” official sources confirmed to The News on Friday.

While the parties are proactively promoting, facilitating and executing the long-term industrial development plan, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a framework of regional connectivity, infrastructure development, and industrial cooperation which will not only benefit the parties but also have a positive impact in the region.

The success of the early harvest projects pertaining to energy and infrastructure has set the foundation for CPEC to enter the pragmatic phase of an enhanced level of industrial cooperation, leading to substantial investment and financing from Chinese government and Chinese private enterprises with reciprocal efforts by the Pakistani government, to provide an encouraging business environment and achieve mutual success as envisaged in the long-term plan of CPEC, signed in 2017 and the MoU on industrial cooperation under CPEC, signed in 2018; the parties hereby agree, as mentioned in the following Articles of the Framework Agreement.

Article 1: As envisaged in the long-term plan, the main objective of the framework agreement is to enhance industrial competitiveness of Pakistan through encouraging Chinese enterprises to build factories and set up business in Pakistan. The focus of the partnership is to improve skill development, enhance labour productivity and encourage joint research and development. The principle of the partnership is to respect the enterprises as responsible entities on market-oriented guidelines, and to follow the business rules and international practices.

Article 2 : The joint Working Group (WG) on Industrial Cooperation under CPEC of the parties will provide guidelines to attract high-quality FM through encouragement of export-oriented high-tech industries, promoting industrialisation, development and population of the economic zones, enhancement of service sector competitiveness, forecasting perspective demand for human resources, ensuring requisite training of workforce; and for the initiation, planning, execution and monitoring of the projects (public as well as private sector) within the ambit agreed between the two countries.


China has advantages and expertise in technology, financing, and industrial capacity, while Pakistan enjoys favourable conditions in natural resources, adequate labour manpower, quality infrastructure, access to the international markets and optimal policies for industrial development.

Chinese group plans industrial park in Pakistan​

A Chinese delegation headed by Shandong Xinxu Group Corporation chairman Hou Jianxin during a meeting with the commerce minister discussed its investment plans.

Mr Jianxin said he came up with the vision to establish an industrial park in Pakistan to get benefit from the decision of the Shandong government, a Chinese province intending to shift its industry to Pakistan.

The park will serve as a focal point for all the industrial requirements of Pakistan from China and vice versa, the chairman added.

Mr Qamar appreciated the Shandong government’s decision to shift its industry to Pakistan which would not only attract foreign investments but would also create job opportunities.

Forget about building newer industrial areas, the current capability has almost totally collapsed under the PDM regime. Newer areas are gonna rot away without use, just like brand new ambulances in Sindh.

How about Chinese Universities, colleges and schools too? Pakistan's education sector is failing deplorably and needs a boost. We need quality teacher training organisations producing quality teachers and educate are girls and boys to the highest global standards. We need to break the Colonial models of education and push ahead with change to produce world changing youngsters.
