The attack on Imran Khan must be condemned. Individuals must not be allowed to take law into their own hands. Such events if allowed to occur repeatedly can push us into civil war-like situation. So we must try to analyz why this type of events happen. Finding out those factors that create and promote this type of offensive thought-process is a pre-requisite to making a counter-strategy against such attacks. We must not forget that we have many enemy powers (both overt and covert) and a possibility of third party's invlvement cannot be ruled out before thorough investigations of this whole episode are completed.
Investigators must find out how this person who apparently belongs to the lower class was able to acquire/buy a modern automatic weapon, who supplied the weapon and provided training to him, does the accused have any relations with any other groups (by thoroughly checking his contacts, records of phone calls, his travels records, financial transections, etc.) must be thoroughly investigated.
In a video statement apparently released by the police, the accused stated that he was upset on the fact that Imran Khan kept playing loud music in his political rallies/march while azan was going on. It might be a delibrate attempt to derail investigations or may be the case that the accused was indeed deeply disturbed by that playing music during azan in Imran's long march. But no individual can justify trying to kill another person for whatever reasons. The law must take its own course to deal with every and all situations.
For over a decade now, Imran Khan has been clearly and consistently violating the law of the land and disgracing our constitutional institutions without a shame and then getting off the hook one way or the other (and that is a matter of deep shame for our judges and justice system). People of Pakistan watch all this disgraceful bigotry and defiance of the law by the PTI leaders. Many individuals from other political and religious parties, after seeing all this disgraceful and shameless behavior of PTI leaders, might be thinking that flouting the law of the land is not a big deal for them either. It's a fact that normal workers of political/religious parties indeed get effected by (and show re-action to) the actions of leaders of their own or other parties. If some leaders break the law repeatedly then how can one stop others from not taking the law in their own hand. The fire of hate, slandering, bad-mouthing, and abuse that this idiot Imran Khan has been igniting against others for years now might engulf his own self and his party. Others might not have such a big bad-mouth but they might re-act in ways of their own. I think this duplicity of law and contradictions in our justice system are some of the crucial factors that our state needs to ponder on.
