Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif held a farewell luncheon in honour of retiring Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood on Wednesday.
Addressing the event, the prime minister paid tribute to the retiring general and thanked him for his invaluable services to the nation.
“General Rashad Mahmood enhanced the professional capabilities of our armed forces,” the prime minister said, noting that the general accomplished several tasks successfully.
The prime minister said General Rashad Mahmood played an important role in establishing close relations with military leaderships of friendly countries.
He added that the Pakistan Armed Forces benefitted immensely from the general’s vision and leadership and will continue to do so in the coming times.
“We are proud of Mahmood,” the prime minister said. “Our hearts and doors will always remain open for him.”
Federal ministers Ishaq Dar, Kh Saad Rafiq, advisers and chiefs of Pakistan Navy and Air Force also attended the farewell luncheon. CJCSC General Rashad Mahmood is due to retire on November 29.
