PM Narendra Modi Three Nation Visit to France, Germany and Canada

.

Is globe trotting PM good for India? :P
If it leads to more FDI, signing of nuclear deals and improving India's image abroad then of course it is good for India. India is a major global player and it needs to start acting like it.

India expects 'movement' to seal Rafale deal with France | Zee News
Last Updated: Friday, April 10, 2015 - 10:44

Paris: Ahead of talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Francois Hollande, India on Friday said it expects "movement" on a proposal for setting up French nuclear reactors in Jaitapur in Maharashtra as well as Rafale fighter deal, both of which are pending for long.

These issues, along with trade, will be high on the agenda of substantive discussions between the two leaders amid India's keen interest to get participation of French companies in the 'Make in India' programme. Terrorism, against the backdrop of an attack here three months back, will also be discussed.

"India and France are strategic partners. In this context, the issues of civil nuclear and defence cooperation will be discussed. The issues you referred to will also be discussed. We expect movement on these issues," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin said here when asked whether the two leaders will talk about Jaiitapur nuclear project and multi-billion dollar Rafale deal.

"There will be substantive discussions on defence and nuclear issues. Wait for the outcome," he added.

The spokesman said India expects French companies to participate in 'Make in India' programme in the field of defence as well as civil nuclear energy, "where India can make some nuclear installations with France."

The Jaitapur project, where French company Areva is to set up six nuclear reactors with total power generation capacity of about 10,000 MW, is stuck for long because of differences over the cost of electricity to be generated.

Similarly, the deal to supply 126 Rafale fighter planes is also deadlocked because of differences over price.

Modi, who arrived here today on a four-day visit, will also address two meetings with French CEOs - one on infrastructure and another on defence.

He will also have 'Naav pe Charcha' (chat on boat) with Hollande when they go for a cruise on Seine river which passes through Paris.

True.. that's what most of us believe.
But #Presstitue media thinks otherwise. I just picked that line from a NDTV debate agenda yesterday!

PM Modi meets top French business leaders | Zee News
Last Updated: Friday, April 10, 2015 - 15:53

Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Friday met top French business leaders with an aim of bringing French investment and technologies to India particularly in infrastructure and defence sectors.

Modi, who is on a four-day visit to France, was accorded a ceremonial welcome after his arrival here at the Les Invalides, the seventh century courtyard.

After the ceremony, Modi attended two back-to-back meetings with French CEOs whose business are mainly focused on these two sectors.

India is keen to invite French investments and technology in infrastructure and defence through participation in 'Make in India' programme initiated by Modi.

India expects "movement" on a proposal for setting up French nuclear reactors in Jaitapur in Maharashtra as well as Rafale fighter deal, both of which are pending for long.

These issues, along with trade, will be high on the agenda of substantive discussions between Prime Minister Modi and French President Francois Hollande later today.

Modi will also have 'Naav pe Charcha' (chat on boat) with Hollande this evening when they go for a cruise on Seine river which passes through Paris.

Will Defend Right and Liberty of Every Citizen, Says Prime Minister Narendra Modi in France

All India | Edited by Amit Chaturvedi | Updated: April 10, 2015 18:13 IST

Paris: In a packed hall, with representatives of 195 countries present, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today, "We will ensure every citizen of every religion has an equal place."

The assertion on a global stage comes as the 10-month-old Modi government attempts to address widespread concern and criticism about a series of attacks on religious minorities back home. PM Modi is in Paris on his first visit to Europe and was addressing more than 1300 diplomats and others.

"Real progress is measured through empowerment of the weakest. This has been our creed since we assumed office nearly a year ago," Mr Modi said, adding, "We will defend and protect the rights and liberty of every citizen."
He talked about climate change and called for "a collective human action; and a comprehensive response."

"In India, faith and nature have had a deep link since ancient times. For us, the only path to prosperity is the sustainable one," the PM said, referring to western pressure on India on emissions when he said, "Too often, our discussion is reduced to an argument about emission cuts. But we are more likely to succeed if we offer affordable solutions, not simply impose choices."

He listed his government's efforts at developing clean energy that is affordable and accessible to all, also calling for a change in lifestyle and linking it to his efforts to promote yoga globally, to much applause.

His remarks come ahead of a crucial UN meet on climate change to be held in Paris later this year.

In Paris, where 11 people at satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo were gunned down this year, PM Modi also spoke of the global challenge of terror. "The threats are changing from domination by states to destruction by groups. We fight today not only over what we claim, but also for who we are. And, in many parts of the world, culture remains a source of conflict," the PM said, adding, "Culture must connect, not divide, our world."

As he walked into the hall, there were cheers of "Modi, Modi." He was welcomed with a musical performance and he began his speech by saying, "Our world is and will remain a better place because of the United Nations."
