Greeting people on Eid al-Adha, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hoped that the festival will further the spirit of peace and happiness in the society.

Eid al-Adha, also called festival of sacrifice, is being celebrated on Monday.

"My best wishes on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. I hope it furthers the spirit of peace and happiness in our society. Eid Mubarak!," the prime minister wrote on Twitter.

In the weeks leading up to the day you will commonly see goats on bikes, in rickshaws, autos, etc. And they are almost always male goats.

Muslims are not psychos. They will not unnecessarily kill a milk giving animal when males are available.

A single male goat or bull is enough to service a large number of females. This entire beef hauvva in India was only to slap Muslims when the chance came. Nothing more.

All I'm saying is, even pre Modi/Sangh/BJP, Muslims would use mainly male animals for meat.

Most Indians (including me) had a misconception though that bakra eid means male goat. Which kind of softened the cultural blow on this day.

I learned here that it was a Arab word for a cow (baqra) ...
