The situation is no differamt from 1948. The initiative lies with the two warring parties. Rest of the world can only offer, suggest, ask, recommend. This is the case with most conflicts, unless a superpower has personal interest to spill blood and geo-politics allows it to get it's way like 1990 Iraq war.

With rest of conflicts third parties can only act if asked. Trump said so. He would love gto mediate if both sides agree. Now if somehow behind the scenes [which I would be shocked] Modi/PMIK are in contact with Trump and both have agree then yes.
