PM Khan meets Norwegian counterpart, informs about prevailing situation in IoK

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday hold a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart Erna Solberg on the sidelines of 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and apprised her about the prevailing situation in Indian occupied Kashmir.

During the meeting, the two leaders exchanged views on a wide range of bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of mutual interest while both leaders expressed satisfaction at the current trajectory of bilateral relations.

He said that Pakistan is interested in boosting bilateral economic relations with Norway.

The two prime ministers also agreed that a vibrant Pakistani diaspora in Norway played an important role in strengthening friendship between the two countries.

The prime minister briefed the Norwegian prime minister on the current situation in the valley entailing grave risks for peace and security especially the dire human rights and humanitarian situation.

"The curfew should be immediately lifted in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir so that the people there can freely express what they feel about Indian aggression," PM Imran said.

He urged the need for immediate steps by the international community to ease the sufferings of Kashmiris subjected to inhuman lockdown for seven weeks.

In the meeting, the issue of Afghanistan also came under discussion, and underlining the importance of a successful conclusion of the peace and reconciliation process.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is currently in the US to attend the session of the United Nations General Assembly, expressed the desire to further deepen bilateral trade and investment ties during the meeting with Solberg.
