ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday inaugurated the JW Forland Auto Park vehicle assembly plant, in a major push to the country’s automobile industry.

Pakistan’s JW SEZ Group, in a joint venture (JV) with China’s Changsha Foton Vehicle Technology, has officially launched its production line to make cargo trucks and special purpose vehicles in Pakistan.

JW Forland is the first Pakistani company to produce commercial vehicles in the country.

PM Imran said, “For the first time in Pakistan’s history, a complete car manufacturing plant was being set up and this would create 5,000 jobs which would increase to 35,000 in the future.”

The $150 million project has been launched with the ultimate goal to make Pakistan a regional hub for manufacturing auto parts and automobiles, according to Finance Minister Asad Umar.

@VCheng its starting now!!

More companies to start production in 2019 including private vehicles, cars etc. Two plants being setup in Faisalabad (under construction) and two more in other cities coming up. We do have a possibility here to start even exporting some of these Pakistan made vehicles in next 4-5 years.

Good Step but This Goverment needs to set a safety standard before any new vehicle is being built it will be alot easier & cost effective to do it now as well guideline for every one rather than waiting few more decades it will much harder than

Why shouldn't the government makes it mandatory for every vehicle in Pakistan being manufactured or imported to have ACC, ABS, SRS Airbag, EBD and TAC. We don't need any mehran like crap now

.

*ISLAMABAD - Pakistan government plans to export cars and other vehicles to region, Finance Minister Sad Unar has revealed.*

*JW and Forland have collaborated to produce cargo trucks and special purpose vehicles in Pakistan.*

The launch event was held on Friday. The $150 million project has been launched with the ultimate goal to make Pakistan a regional hub for manufacturing auto parts and automobiles, said Finance Minister Asad Umar in a tweet on Thursday.

With the launch of the project, there will be technology transfer from China to Pakistan. “Progress only starts after the technology is transferred,” said Prime Minister Khan.

He said that schools will be formed, where the technicians will be able to acquire skills. “We will produce cars which can eventually be exported,” Khan remarked.

This is not the first time vehicles will be produced in Pakistan, but it is the first time vehicles will be produced for commercial use.

Adam Group Company had produced and assembled the first car in Pakistan, Revo. The production has been discontinued now. The United Group produces rickshaws and has announced a plan to start assembling cats too.

As I have said before, there are some things I can only be too happy to be proven wrong. This is definitely one of them. Let us hope these ventures succeed in the domestic market and also for exports.

For for transport vehicle, the demand is so huge that they are most likely to succeed!! Not sure sure about export prospects of this particular company. However i do expect some of the other players to be able to do well in export market and all this is surely going to help the auto part makers do good!
