This rings true that Stalin and Mao were right when they purged the military and existing estalishment.

You can't fucking trust these people.

If PTI ever gets back to power then please change the cursed name of Pak army to Ground Forces and dissolve ISI to build new intelligence agency.

Change the whole culture inside army
Put them into their place.

Plot im DHA

Buying loyalty via plots is an ancient practice, but it was perfected by the British Imperial Army in the Raj. The Army is perhaps the most sophisticated practitioner of it.

Toss an extra file or two to a Corps Commander and he'll probably sit silently as you manipulate politics to suit vested interests.

It would be interesting to see if Biden calls to congratulate the new PM of Pakistan :pop:

Ironically, a move like that (aimed at normalizing ties with Pakistan) would further polarize the public opinion (among PTI supporters) in Pakistan against the US :rolleyes1:

True, I guess any dissent is frowned upon
Not just frowned upon, but dangerous. When the protests to overthrow Assad occurred in Syria, half the generals sided with the protesters, and the other half with Assad. This caused conflicts between different military units to start, which eventually set off the Syria civil war.

Differences within the top ranks of the military can be disastrous.

HE is busy making enemies of everyone , he has no time. He has too much on his plate regarding the mid term elections which are going to be a "Blood Bath" ( not my words, but his own supporters from media).

Only a leader who first becomes as powerful and popular as Erdogan can do it. You can't do it with Buzdar in Punjab and certain economic factors spiraling out of control + an uncoordinated media / stratcomm approach.

Many analysts believe that the fact that Turkey's main intelligence agency, the MIT, is an independent, civilian org really helped the government during the coup attempt there a few years ago. A lot of people don't know that one of the first targets of the coup plotters was the MIT HQ (they have since moved into a really impressive new HQ), with helicopter gunships strafing it and firing missiles, and the MIT security force returning fire with carbines! The coup plotters also bombed, probably via F-16, the civilian/police special ops unit. The Army is only allowed to have a usual MI that does defense related intel collection and internal counter-intel among the forces, as is the global norm.

Needless to say, the coup plotters knew what the real threats to their army-based take over plan (for a cleric sitting in Pennsylvania) were --- the same two things IK must establish and strengthen whenever he comes back. InshaAllah!

Any Asian success story, whether S Korea, Japan, China, or Singapore (the rest, like India, have too much poverty to be counted) did exactly this: a pretty solid meritocracy, main intel agencies being civilian, and the armed forces being FULLY subservient.

ISI protecting people well.

I pray to Allah that PTI comes back in power and Bajwa and his cronies are tried under article 6 and hanged.
