PM Imran Khan turns down French President's call during media briefing meeting

How can you say " actual worth"---that is a terrible thing to say---.

Imran Khan made an error in judgement---.

The french president just does not make a call like that---. It goes thru protocol---. The french president just simply does not dial a number---it is pre arranged call---.

Clearly the reasoning flew over your head. Maybe get yourself familiar with EU politics and how they play down in our establishment.

What the ........? Bringing personal vendetta against french president and his internal issues with EU. Is that the best you got to defend Ik here? how the whole story of paris and migrants you have mentioned is linked with Pakistan's diplomatic relations with France?

Macron’s not respected in the EU states and majority of his people also adhere to the same sentiment. Why should our PM jump up and down for an arrogant & delusional statesman? Diplomatic relations are built on mutual understanding & respect.

Khan’s no stranger to diplomacy and he made the right call. It’s a 5 year term afterall.

Well as per media report the First call was turned down by IK but after half an hour, 2nd call came in from French President which Imran Khan attended it. So I dont think that any damage was done but obiousley we dont know the the details of call between these two leader.

Wrong wording, turning down means refusing to take it altogether. He simply asked to be called again due to him being busy in a meeting.

And it's not like the French PM was on the other end of the line, it would be his staff contacting IK's staff and when both PM's are available they get connected.

A double edged sword. While a briefing with the local media and showing them importance over an international leader has its impact, so does ignoring a world leader.

Still, it would be better than a certain rumor about Gen YK who (rumored)reportedly was unable to meet an important emissary during the 71 conflict raging and Dhaka nearly lost because he was busy making The Madam sing according to General Rani.

IMO ... I think IK/PTI's intention is to demonstrate a sense of self-dignity, i.e. a trait Pakistan's previous leaders didn't show a lot of when the leader of a richer country would call. Granted, this specific case might have been misapplied; then again, how would you receive a gov't that worked against you at the FATF? Yes, in an objective sense it was just as much our fault, but international relations don't work on objective truths, but perception and how well you convey it to others. Trump is basically following an extreme version of it, everyone else is doing it to less (or much less) degrees.

If PM IK chose the media meet over the President then I think it would be wrong. But if PM IK was already in a meet the media then unless it was a emergency or there was prior appointment PM IK had every right to continue his itinery and request the President to call later. You can't call somebody and expect them to drop whatever they are doing unless it's matter of extreme emergency. This is normal business practice.

Nothing to discuss here French should have made the appointment first. It is obvious every person is equal a French president and homeless living on Paris streets. How can Imran Khan take a call when he is already in a meeting.

As Mastsn Said it was France President’s call not shida tali 99% pre arranged and office of PM just messed up with his schedule.
He called twice in first Place IK say him we talk latter and after 20 or 30 mins received again and SMQ and Fawad request him to take the call, any way he DISTRUPTED be attend first or second.
I heard he refused to attend the protocol procedures training coz he think he know everything already

Sir your point has been taken and if Europe is happy that there is honest PM in Pakistan then French will understand that it is bad manners to leave one engagement for an other. If France is going to break relation on ethics of being ignorant about the manner of civilized society then French are at mistake not us.

How can they expect that a PM of Pakistan will leave his scheduled meeting for a courtesy call and disengage a state matter. It was most probably a French communication secretary calling to hook them both up and 30 mins availability time is not unusual is such communications.

What imran did was correct, and shows his focus on Pakistan. It reinforce my conviction he is man for the job. His team may be somewhat so so but he is on top. Further in this meeting he confirmed no job is fixed for the current appointments. Every one can be replaced.

France can wait.

There's very little trade between Pakistan and France, so, the French are not important to Pakistan. (Should've sold those Agostas when Pakistan wanted them).
