PM Hun Sen asks UN for help against Vietnam

In politics/geo politics, might is right. Im with vietnam on this one. It does what is in its interests, even if that means invading parts of cambodia like in 1979 and putting its agents in cambodia, so what?? I normal, i see nothing wrong in that. China has itself to blame for being weak and not being able to stop 'small ' vietnam invade/influence cambodia'laos and submekong region(@NiceGuy). It will be like the U.S being outdone in its own immediate neigbourhood like mexico/canada by a small country like say cuba. :bounce:

So i dont blame vietnam at all, keep doing your thing. Thats politics for you. im even surprised to see small poor vietbnam havibg such influence in this region. Well done.:enjoy:

I'm sure it will be solved like how Thailand and Cambodia were able to find a common ground regarding the Preah Vihear issue back in 2010-2011. Yes?

What's the input of our Thai friends @somsak @Sonyuke_Songpaisan .

Cambodia, under the leadership of Hun Sen, seems to be capable of making compromise and diplomatically-heralded agreements with its neighbors. So I think this is a reason why we shouldn't take this too seriously. I am very confident that Cambodia and Vietnam can find an agreement and / or compromise.

LOL ... UNSC will give sh!t to this, u forget who host the UN.

The UN, the UNESCO to be exact, was actually pivotal in urging diplomatic resolution to the Thai-Cambodian border skirmish that erupted in 2010-2011 regarding the Preah Vihear temple complex. The UNESCO as well as through intermediation of ASEAN led to ceasure of hostilities and a positive conclusion to the Thai-Cambodian border dispute.

I doubt that Cambodia and Vietnam would have something like that occur. And considering Hun Sen's positive appraisal of Vietnam , I believe he and the Vietnamese leaders will find solution quickly.

My guess to why he implored the UN's intervention? Because it would put greater pressure on Vietnam's leadership to compromise. And this is a healthy, diplomatic process of going about finding a solution to an inter-regional dispute. A mature, healthy dialectic if i may say so myself.

stupid nihonjin gave me a bad rating..

Don't refer to leaders of state as "f@gs" like you said. Be respectful, show decorum, these are leaders of nations, not some trivial folks.

You said this here:
Japan running a charity and make all beggars holding hands like fags. Japan needs this to feel relevant.

Cambodian had to go through all of this because their ancestor choose to be French protectorate instead of our vassal. Should they become our vassal state, they would have been peaceful like all other vassals, which now are province of Thailand.

Spoken like a true Siamese ! :)

I should also add that Cambodia and Laos were given up by the Siamese Kingdom as 'sacrificial pons' in order to preserve the Kingdom of Siam's own independence. That is the reality. Most of what is now Western Cambodia (Battambang region) as well as present day Laos were territories of Siam.

The first map is interesting. Can you provide some source?

The source was from wikipedia. In fact that was the map of Indochina or Southeast Asia in 1886.

Mainland Southeast Asia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That is the reality, actually. Notice how Siam also controlled , as per that map, what is now the present day Malaysian States of Kelantan, Pahang and Terengganu. Actually after the demise of King Taksin , the Rama Dynasty in Siam pushed a policy of Siamese domination of mainland Southeast Asia. One of the greatest of your Kings that was a peer of Emperor Meiji in that he also thought of the importance of industrialization and westernization of Siam -- was King Chulalongkorn (the Great).

Anyways,

What the Vietnam did is outright lawless and do not deserve sympathy for its own treatment by Uncle Sam's agent orange fiasco. This is why it is important for the world to set Vietnam back on track; otherwise they would think they get to set border however they want. That's call being a bully. Not even us can do that, why can a little Vietnam can? Make no sense, my friend. LOL

Off topic - Have you seem Kingsmen? It's a satire on James Bond. One time a British agent quotes Shakespeare before thrashing some hooligans at a pub. It really stood out to me.

Since when is there any morality in geo politics? Loool :cheesy::lol: there are many things you also did that others countries will consider lawless/immoral,but does that change anything? NO. Lol

As you said not even you can do what vietnam did, means you are weaker than most people think(ok to be honest, i will say your leaders are weak in strategic thinking). So you shouldnt be bitter about the fact that vietnam is able to exert so much influence in/dominate its region while China couldnt/cant stop it despite its size.

Never complain of others strength, complain about your weakness. :D So i see absolutely nothing wrong with Vietnam protecting its interests in its immediate neighbourhood BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY, just like how china took scarborough shoal from philippines, i see nothing wrong(if countries cant negotiate peacefully, then let the best/strong win.lol.) after a couple years at most everybidy will forget about this.lol

Countries ought to always seek to pritect their interests with as much means as they can, nothing is illegal in this case. Thats, what real smart powers/countries do:enjoy:. Only those not able to change things/situation complain. :D Realpolitik. :big_boss:

The people of South East Asia have quite a history of expansion as well as martial prowess in their home environment.

Remember the Kingdom of Champa? No?
Well, the Viets destroyed them very thoroughly and in fact, it was so bad that refugees flooded into Hainan Island.

Another warlike people who are often overlooked are the Burmese. During the Qing dynasty, there were three massive expeditions into Burma and all three ended in failure. People from other climates adapt very poorly to the humid insect infested environments. Gun powder gets wet, horses cannot be used and armour chafes while the heat and disease attacks Northerners very badly.

Dont underestimate the shirtless half dressed opponents with spears smeared with human faeces. The look that way because they have adapted very well and the faeces are very effective albeit very dirty - pun intended.
