PM directs to revamp Railways

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to revamp Pakistan Railways in accordance with the ultramodern standards.

He was chairing a high level meeting in Islamabad Thursday.

The prime minister appreciated railways ministry's focus on improving governance, and the human resource policy based on merit and transparency.

He directed that all railway stations should be modernised with better services.

The meeting was informed that the target of 4.5 billion rupees additional revenue was achieved this year and, with better management, there has been a reduction of five billion rupees in the losses of Railways.

The meeting was informed that request for proposals regarding feasibility study of Islamabad-Murree-Muzaffarabad railway link will be floated next week.

The meeting decided to reconstitute Railways Board with better representation from private sector.

Things are improving on the old railways that the English provided , however more effort is to be made to bring it to international standard

Well we had electrical trains and locomotives , however Nawaz sharif did not decide to expand that service due to acute shortage of electricity. Its a known fact.

We just don't have electricity...I saw lets smoke to it
