Assembled cars will have some tax breaks to reduce prices, I would imagine. That will be good, but not as good as local manufacturing. I look forward to further updates.
To take advantage of the tax breaks, there has to be a degree of local manufacturing. Currently 60-65% of Corolla has locally manufactured parts by IMC or its vendors like Thal engg, Procon, etc (Raw materials probably are imported as they have very low duty rates).
So when someone says "Car Assembly" in the context of Pakistan, it involves manufacturing.
