Plans afoot to clean India's offices with cow urine :-]

You would have made sense (even partially) had you read the part about mixing the distilled urine with neem other herbal products which are powerful anti-bacterial agents.

I don't give a $hit about beating around the bush and support the Government doing this. Villages must have people led solutions which would lead to enhanced employement and income at the village level itself and reduce incentive for migration.

As far as why Cow urine is used it is for a number of reasons, not just one. Cows are highly revered in my culture, apart from that we have a very very large number of cows in India. Even the poor people in villages have cows which help sustain them. So availability of cows is large which makes it easier for procurement by the Government.

Here we go, getting defensive for NO reason. Read your post again. The BOLD part is the meat of the discussion and this is what I was referring to. The fact is, the Cows have sacredness in the Hindu religion and due to which, washing the office with the Cow Piss is considered a way of cleansing the place with Sacred water so to speak. That's your belief system and THERE IS NOTHING WRONG with it. That's what I was trying to tell you to be open about it, vs. going in circles. The reason there are a LOT of Cows is because not a lot of killed for meat production as your nation doesn't eat Beaf due to its sacredness. Again, you didn't need to get defensive. I think every single poster here knows Indian - Pakistani culture and its differences and that's the global world today for you. We can ALL coexist without being upset at each other.

you gotta give it to the indians for their win-win situation
i guess that's where term "cash cow" got its meaning from
its an indian cultural thing..some drink it as well.

"Gau Jal" they call it. I think its carbonated cow urine.

Well, there is NOTHING wrong with it if that's a part of their religion. I think we should all be respectful of it. Calling out someone making stuff up is different than flat out insulting one's religion. Some of the posters are right when they outline that the Urine is actually clean due to it being Amonia based and adding that tree then makes it further cleaner. Doesn't meant that the world needs to start drinking it. But it ALSO doesn't mean we need to insult a religion of 1.2 billion people.

This thread is actually silly. It's their religion and they can chose this practice however they feel. No one is threatening or getting hurt and its not an issue to be further discussed in my opinion.

.
I agree with your first part of the post entirely. Its sad, silly and laughable to see how far both, the Indians and the Pakisanis can go to just bullshit each other about everything. Its pretty stupid but oh well.

The last part of the post is, Animal products are used in the history throughout.....I agree with it. Even the Soap at some point was an animal by product and medicines used to have those elements too. BUT....Cow Pis* used to clean offices???? Common man. Show me one modern office that uses it. Are you an Indian decent who used to work for the State Dept. (that is, if you really worked for them)? Your posts start out nice but turn biased towards India. I've noticed that a lot. What's the truth???

Let me get this.

You agree people of both countries act immature in their comments towards each other here
You agree that animal byproducts are used throughout history

But you find it somehow ridiculous with this one because it does not fit your sensibilities. Maybe if the piss was of a tiger or made out of the sexual organs of some other animal you can see yourself using it?

My question then to you would be- who made you judge for a day to decide which ingredients should be acceptable based on your sensitivities?

What is the difference when you eat Goat, an animal that also eats it's own feces? I mean come on man, show me one modern person who eats their own feces while eating the food that sustains them.

Finally, let me play the same game like you played one me and ask you. Are you a Pakistani who is a-okay when someone attacks Indians or are you an American?

Who got defensive. Is trying to correct you akin to getting defensive?

Again, what part of,
1. cows are revered.
2. The number of cows is very large which makes procurement easy.
3. Distilled urine mixed with other locally available natural products makes it an effective cleansing agent for floors.
4. Enhanced village level (sorely needed)employment and income

do you have trouble comprehending?

All 4 reasons put together make a compelling argument.

What I am surprised is that local government offices in villages should have been doing this for a long time now. Nonetheless, better late than never.

Phew, your defensiveness JUST told me you are from India. And I explained to another Indian poster to go read my posts from before and see my heritage shinning in it.

After that, you can go read my two recent posts on this topic too. You'll see how unbiased I really am. You'll only see me in action when people are trying to show the world an entirely different picture of anything than the actual reality. I don't like propaganda and when I see people (including yourself) doing it, I'll try to correct you. There is no game there.

Also, one more time, my position on this Urine thing (since you haven't been following my posts on this thread), is that in the Indian culture and in Hinduism, the Cow is a super Sacred character. So the Cow Urine is used and people even drink it considering it as the Holly Water. Frankly speaking, I may not agree with it but I respect it. A person's faith is their faith, who am I to judge?

My whole point to write on here wasn't to bash a religion of over 1.2 billion great people. It was to cut the crap to the chase about both sides going on and on. Folks here that are Hindu, should openly tell others that this is something allowed in their religion and no matter how others look at it, it deserves respect as its a religious matter. End of the story. Me, Tom, Harry or Dick need to just respect it and not bothered by who, why and whens. End of the discussion.

Like I said.....it is a part of your religion, who the heck am I to question you on it? Therefore, all three of your points with another major point on top of the three, that the Cow and its associated anything is Sacred, I whole heatedly agree and respect. I don't think anyone should be writing posts about it. And nor should you have to explain it to anyone once you've told them the reasons.......

.
that is so unhygienic of them

Um...its posts like these that I feel I have to correct you

When I said cows are revered, it has the same 'sacred' connotation.
Here is what "revered" means: To regard with awe, deference, and devotion.

So..no. the 4 points I mention cover it all.

P.S: Edited my previous post, added one more point about employement.

Yea, people are bias because they comment on a specific topic. The topic is about what an indian company is using to make a household product. By default for the likes of you, any answer that does not follow your sensitivities would mean it to be in the defense of Indians.

What does being Hindu have to do with this ?
Americans drink wine, is that because we are Christians largely?
Why is everything tied to religion or mocking it for people like you?

This why we laugh at you guys going on and on for 17 pages. This is an Indian company speaking about a household product.

"So the Cow Urine is used and people even drink it considering the Holly Water"

No they don't and right there it shows you are no better than those I talked about. Just because you have some instances of some people that may have in a country. That does not make it any quote " Holly water". That shows your utter ignorance of that country and its traditions and more about your bais. Imagine some moron saying to you that people use the chat Allah O Akbar" as a terrorism chant because Islam says it so or agrees with it. Just because they figured a small percentage of terrorists use that slogan. That would again be a ridiculous assumption on others behalf, yeah?

Do you as a Muslim not use products that could be claimed as being weird by another religion? Your attitude JUST told me that you are a bias Pakistani and not an American. One who seeks to mock others based on their religion.

See we can both play the same game. Have a nice day.
