Female Tajik SWAT team member in Xinjiang woos, inspires netizens

As has happened with a few female officers in the past, internet users have seemingly fallen head-over-heels for this anti-terrorism SWAT team member in Xinjiang.

Dilraba, who was born in 1990, is a Tajik woman working in the Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT team) in the Kaxgar Prefecture. Although her photos have gone viral online in part because of her "beautiful looks", she hopes that she can deliver a positive message to people through her story.

In 2012, she wanted to join Xinjiang’s anti-terrorism team after graduating from Xinjiang’s police college, although she wasn't able to because there were no openings for female candidates that year. Instead, she joined the SWAT team in the Kaxgar Prefecture. According to Dilraba, it wasn't what she'd dreamed for, but it was a start.

Dilraba's parents initially told her that women should stay at home and take care of the family, although eventually they came around and supported her decision. After entering the SWAT team, she gave up a lot, including free time and friends, although she says she doesn't regret it.

“A young person should strive for their dream instead of choosing a stable life when they have the ability and energy,” she said.
She's also modest. Throughout her entire interview with QQ News reporters, she stressed that she only a part of the SWAT team. “My brothers in the team are doing a tougher and better job!”
“Wearing this uniform represents taking up responsibility and an inborn duty. A safe and harmonious society is the only thing I want," she said.
