That will cripple the US economy in one or two decades.
Hopefully not, given how integrated both our economies are (Japan's and Germany's) to the United States'.

Ask the man/ woman on any Germany street hwo he/ she feels abou the US. Mainstream German media does not reflect the majority AT ALL!
I understand your point, there are many segments in Japanese society that also deplore American foreign policy. But I'm speaking not in defense of America (given, i also live here), but I'm speaking as a Japanese nationalist --- America is a major export market (btw, our auto industry are battling each other for the American market, which we both are doing quite well). If the US economy tanks, so goes our export market --- which affects our economy.
We both have to find balance --- balance in the Chinese market, and the US market --- both of which are major consumers of Japanese and German exports, respectively. Balance is part of this game.
Our products will find plenty of markets once the Eurasian infrastructure will be ready. Europe, Asia and Africa have over 4 billion potential consumers, plenty of workforce and natural resources. Think big, very big. The US will become an insignifican island.
Sound aperture. Nevertheless, I would remind you that right now, Germany enjoys a growing bilateral economic relationship with the United States, one that exceeds $73.7 Billion (US Dollars) per year. An enviable position in any European country in the European Union, by the way.
Germany enjoys a positive trade balance with the US.

We enjoy with pretty much a positive trade balance with everybody.
Righ now the US is harming our long-term economic as well as geo-political interest. So, p*** off USA.

That's what I really admire about German people and German policy --- trade oriented focus. Tho , honestly, I would love to see a more robust German foreign policy, one that is befitting of the economic titan that is the $3.5 Trillion German Economy. This includes military activity.
The Germans are smart, what can Germany do that they didn't try in WW2 at this point. Germany has neither the land, the population nor anything else that can make it match US, China, and soon India. Germany will never challenge it. Better to live better instead.
Germany is strong and wealthy, but there's a different tier, and they are not in it.
Germany is also the most populated nation in the entirety of Western Europe ; over 82 million. They've a large population, a highly educated population, a strong central government. As for military expansion --- that is beyond Germany now. Germany is now the leader of the EU. They've already conquered Europe , lol.

A wee bit angry ? lol
Well, as long as the world is only Western Europe, except there is India, china and the US. They will never be anything on the world stage, again.
They chosen the smart path, can't be stronger? I'll be richer, per person, and just let its people be better off instead.
America isn't the world's policeman, it's looking out for its own interests. Look at our investments, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Africa, Latin America, even Europe, constantly under threat.
At this point, we must take it, but at some point we can't. Then we need to act, and that leads to if we acted here, why are you not acting else where question. If you say no interest, your image is going in the crapper. Rawanda, America didn't act and by the end it's like Americans killed those people.
We need global influence, because there are too many bastards in this world.
China and Russia can always play a game with the paranoid USA. All they need to do is to arm themself up to just below the US, e.g. the US has 10 ACC, the combined number of China and Russia should be 9. The financial burden is divided by two countries (maybe China can carry a bit more, e.g. China 6 ACC, Russia 3 ACC)
That will cripple the US economy in one or two decades.
