PILDAT highlights potential Prime Ministers in coming 15 years

My friend, she was invited for a conference in which she would have been the only non-GCC individual. What did she do? Instead of attending the conference in Abu Dhabi, she was shopping in Dubai. This is my eye witness account, not somebody's phoopa told me!
maybe she was out of lip gloss or her foundation... now that was a serious national emergency... probably billed the GoP for it...
on a serious note Allah bachay hum ko agar yah log hi agay rah gay hai

As for all the children of politicans it is sad if they can even be considered with the minimal experience they have. We need a leader with charisma, look how the current COAS has lifted a nation up. We need a leader like that in a civilian person, strong and resolute, with a clear action plan. This list really provides no one near that calibre IMO

Being a PM is a VERY tough job, no matter how you look at it (that is if you have 1% care for the people who voted for you). If you are corrupt like Zardari, then it doesn't matter.

Also, being a PM doesn't mean that everything comes in a plate to you or you are a God made match and you know how to do everything. You learn as you grow into the role, and there is a system around you, including top, retired bureaucrats and generals, who've been doing this for decades, within their respective expertise. ]

The mainstream issues, such as foreign policy, etc, don't change in a stable environment a lot. But if you are Iran, or another country with fluctuations and internal and external instability, then obviously your foreign policy will fluctuate too.

Similarly, Gen. Raheel can come to Washington and discuss military issues and Pak Army's needs and India's interference, etc. But the guy can't talk about basic business to save his life. That's because he's not a businessman. He's a military guy who has one of the most honored families in Pakistan's history, and decades of service to his country. So just because someone is great at what they do today, doesn't mean they are a resolute leader and can lead a nation.

Number 2,9,13,19 and 20 would make good leaders. Some will be ready in the next 3 years, some may take another 5 if you consider natural growth and opportunity. But all of these guys have seen and been a part of the local and international politics so it shouldn't be a bad choice.

The worst part was it left me red faced, I went through a lot of trouble to get Pakistan involved, and she didn't show up!

Asad Umar maybe, I know you are pro N so it is not a debate I would like to have, but governance is very poor at this time. 2nd stint in Punjab, and things are not really good security wise, the line losses are still not decreasing and the police are brutal while crime is increasing(such as robberies etc), and there is an actual decrease in quality of healthcare.

This is where I keep saying, the system needs to be stronger so it can build stronger institutes, and then stronger, loyal politicians. If she showed this irresponsible behavior, then this goes back to my first post about Zardari being her leader (again, I've not witnessed this incident myself, and your word is as good as my neighbor who probably couldn't spell Pakistan, but I am still taking your word for it). But I am not surprised to hear this either.

A thief won't teach you respect for the law. A murder sure as hell won't teach you not to hit anyone. So, a corrupt leader would have his followers doing the same. Doesn't mean she or anyone else are that stupid. Its just that when your boss is a thief and there is no accountability, chances are you'll end up like him. Thus the point I made that she should be a good PM if she was to be under someone else like NS or may be Reham Khan (Reham would be a good Pakistani PM or a FM, hands down).

I am actually not a pro-N or P or S. I am pro anyone who can work and change Pakistan from where it was at the end of 2012. A country in a mess for the past 70 years, can't just be fixed in 3 or 5 years. You have go give it about 10 to see real results.

In a country's history (majority of the countries at the least), there usually are two most prominent leaders in the history. One who founded or built the country, the second one, who put it on the path of modernization and growth. Similarly, Mr. Jinnah made Pakistan, another leader needed to setup foundation to grow Pakistan. That needed to happen like 60 years ago.

But nevertheless, it has happened now. Whether you like, dislike, hate or love NS's team, they have done a lot of work and have actually put in the foundation to grow Pakistan. ALL international institutes recognize it and talk about the growth, opportunity and policies that NS's team have put together for foreign investors. Karachi stock exchange as JUST one example, has grown 72+% since these guys came. That's a LOT of return in three years. You'd expect your money to double up if you invest aggressively from 8-12 years.....and here, investors made 70%+ in less than three years!! Just one example.

Out of IK's group, the BEST option IMO, is Reham Khan. IK should let her come up and eventually become the PM. She can run the party and the country. She's done a lot of work in the Political Science arena and she's super sharp. And can totally handle A to Z of Pakistan's politics and PM-ship.

Crime and Police and all, are a provincial level issues. People should go to the High or the Supreme Court for it, in case there are issues in getting justice. Not sure if an online forum is the right place for it.

You don't have to take my word, that's the best part!!! Ask anyone in the Abu Dhabi Embassy, or the Foreign Ministry in Islamabad!

I am not discrediting it. I already told you I won't be surprised. Children see their parents and then elder siblings as role models. Politicians look at their mentors and leaders. Zardari is probably the worst mentor for anyone, UNLESS you want to learn corruption (then he's the authority).

So because of his bad habits, I am sure she followed suite too and did stupid crap, including that affair with Zardari's son!!! So I am not disagreeing with you. Its a direct impact of a bad leader.

On the other hand, NS took resignation of one of his Federal Ministers to open his mouth unnecessarily and embarrass the country. Guess what? No other minister would do it again on foreign media. She needed a boss like that who'd hold someone accountable, not hold his Whiskey accountable every night.

1, 2, 3 ,7, 11, 18 and 20 I'd very much like to see either of them become PM.

PILDAT highlights potential Prime Ministers in coming 15 years
3 MINS AGO BY STAFF REPORT

The Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) has released its own projection of political personalities that could take over command as the prime minister during the next 10-15 years.

The PILDAT analysis is based on the promise and potential that the people on their list have shown. The compilation has been produced as a book, and has helped highlight the role that those enlisted can play.

The list includes (in alphabetical order)
  1. Ahsan Iqbal,
  2. Aitzaz Ahsan,
  3. Asad Umar,
  4. Aseefa Bhutto-Zardari,
  5. Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari,
  6. Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari,
  7. Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan,
  8. Hamza Shahbaz,
  9. Hina Rabbani Khar,
  10. Humayun Akhtar Khan,
  11. Imran Khan,
  12. Ishaq Dar,
  13. Khurram Dastagir Khan,
  14. Liaqat Baloch,
  15. Marvi Memon,
  16. Maryam Nawaz,
  17. Mushahid Hussain Sayed,
  18. Omar Ayub Khan,
  19. Shah Mehmood Qureshi,
  20. Shahbaz Sharif and
  21. Shazia Marri.

The people on the list have been judged in terms of the role that they play within their respective party. Their level of engagement with the masses and charisma, along with demonstrated ability to be a part of the government at any level, etc.

Data used to develop the volume has been taken from many different outlets including official websites, publications, social media etc. In some cases interviews were also conducted to get the right kind of information.

The future of Pakistan largely depends on the leaders that the people choose. The top 20 options paint an interesting picture for the country.

I don't know how much that chap got done to be honest with you. The electric issue, the lack of proper streets, education, healthcare, economy, etc, etc.....ALL are a result of the past 70 years of neglect and focus on the people and the nation's needs and growth.

I do see the current leadership now doing all those things. So when I am currently seeing the results and it is being recognized by the world, from China to the United States....why would I look back 50 years ago??? The system is working and producing, the globe (for the first time), talks about Pakistan, her economy and her system very positively. I think the team that's working right now, is doing stuff right. I don't need to go back 5 decade. Everyone has their favorites. My favorites are the ones who are currently delivering to the people of Pakistan.

If not for his unwavering loyalty to Bhutto and the association with PPP. The man is VERY balanced in his opinions even when his superiors in the PPP are being the beghairat's that they are. Loyalty is a flaw in this case , but a more learned man in both politics and international nuances .. not to mentioned extremely polished does not exist on that list.

I would rate Mushahid hussain syed higher than aitzaz ahsan. Mushahid is a born diplomat, too bad he chose to be in PMLNQ

Asad Umer is reasonable

The world doesn't know him and he certainly has no experience running a state, let alone a country. Running an energy company and running a country are two very different things. He'll be like that guy Mushy imported from the US (the Citi bank executive), someone with a last name of "Khan".

May be you give Asad a couple of other roles, see his performance and then give him the PM role? Just giving someone the highest ranking post without experience in local and international matters is pretty silly to be frank with you.

For a PM, I think number 7 should be next. He's ready, has been delivering, is loyal to the country, and the world knows him well.

Number 2 is also ready (but same issue like we have with 9, they both come under the most corrupt leader ever).

Then you have # 13 (Dastagir), this guy's father had been in politics whether Marshall Law or Democracy. I've met him many times and know this personality and ideology so very seasoned. The younger Dastagir is an Engineer by education and knows complexities of things. He's well respected across many countries and definitely has the education and the vision, and seasoned politician charisma from his dad transferred over to him.

Number 18 is no new face to me, but he somehow joined IK. And there has not been anything BUT negativity from these guys. Negative politics won't help Pakistan. So if # 18 can come in clean and be independent, I think he had good local and global experience. IK doesn't have that in him to be frank. However, IK's wife can easily be the PM if you gave her just a few years in politics. She's well respected in the UK - Europe, is very political savvy and is very sharp. She's the best option for IK's party if he gets over his insecurity and allows her to convert her citizenship and be a part of the political movement.

Number 20, SS is pretty darn seasoned and has delivered a lot!!! What he did in Punjab, obviously he'll do it across Pakistan so its just growth and expansion of the economy from his standpoint. I can't challenge someone who's been there done the job and has delivered.

.
Khurram Dastaghir and Marvi Memon? Dafuq are these two doing in this list? :hitwall:

By the way, no love for Mushahidullah, Pervez Rasheed, Talal Chaudhry, Saad Rafique? These chaps have worked their arses out to appease their lord king?
