In recent years it has become custom that upon their passing out parade, soldiers that join 1 Regiment undergo a 12 week course leading up to the group B class III Infantry Trade. The BIII Infantry course is the foundation course that refines a soldiers skills, transforming them into seasoned, more displined soldiers whilst it prepares them for further specialisation training in view of future possible deployments overseas.
On 4th July 2013 during the flag raising ceremony held monthly at 1 Regiment AFM, 48 soldiers from C (Special Duties) Company were presented with the graduation certificate by the Commanding Officer Lt Col M.Borg and the C (SD) Coy badge by their Officer Commanding Capt J. Ebejer. This ceromony brought to an end weeks of training that included Weapons training, Battle drills training, Infantry exercises in the field, and Live fire tactical training.
