Rescue teams were readied for deployment to some areas in Bicol, Visayas and Mindanao Thursday morning as the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council went on red alert for Korea's scheduled launch of a rocket.
The NDRRMC went on red alert starting at 8 a.m., hours before the scheduled launch at 5 p.m. (Manila time), radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.
NDRRMC head Benito Ramos was quoted in the report as saying they expect no problem from local fishermen, who he said had promised to comply with a ban on fishing, flying and sailing in areas where parts of the rocket may fall.
He said the crucial hours will be between 5 and 8 p.m., where they will keep watch over Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte, Albay, Sorsogon, Catanduanes, Northern, Eastern and Western Samar, Southern Leyte, Surigao Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Dinagat and Siargao.
On Wednesday, the NDRRMC had gone on blue alert, where at least 50 percent of government forces should be at their posts at any time.
The NDRRMC initially went on alert last October 26, when the launch was initially scheduled, but lifted the ban when Korea postponed the launch.
South Korea rescheduled the launch for November 9 and then Nov. 15, but failed to push through with it. –KG, GMA News

NDRRMC on red alert for South Korea rocket launch Nov. 29 - Yahoo! News Philippines

this is the last attempt after South Korea's failed rocket launch 2009, and 2010, rocket co-developed with Russia, with plenty of busting plays and blame games between the two, including S.Korean engineer deported from Russia for stealing classified tech docs.

.
Sad to see that the South Koreans are still behind Japan and China in space and rocket technology.

.
they are also behind Pakistan and India in this field I'd say.

Wake up kid , Pakistan is not even in race .

we are on that. and our space tech is around there too.

seriously are you a military fan? you don't even know this kind of rocket launch is close to a mid range missile launch?

.
it failed again, people see smoking out of the rocket body.

True. But the problem is pakistan need to redefine and reclassify the priorities for military and civilian purposes.
And the civilian purpose of Pakistani space program is admittandly not so great

Thomas Edison once said "I learned 1000 ways of how to not make a lightbulb". Trial and error my friends trial and error. Or they could do as Pakistan and get China to send up their satellites/.

.
 before countries used to go on red alert when north korea launches a rocket ,now red alert for south korea too? :D earth is round for sure.

Launching a satellite in the space is very difficult task. I am sure SK is capable to do it. Persistence is the key here. Best of luck SK.

not really,we send a couple of them up to the space every month,it's like a routine job and people no longer care about those news.don't know why S.Koreans have so much trouble to figure it out.

Once the technology is established and one gets experience in using that technology it gets simpler. All the countries who are regularly launching the satellites without any new technology attempted in it, get it done mostly with success. However, for the country like SK who are attempting it pretty recently, will take time to perfect it.

Yup, we are not in race of FAILED ROCKET LAUNCHES!

You know better. Failure comes when you attempt. I wish your country attempts it sooner.

Those Koreans should stick with their Gangnam Style, the Space Program is something too complicated for them to figure out.
