Peugeot to launch hybrid car that runs on air next year

Because it is Peugeot speaking I have lesser confidence. But still I hope they come up with an efficient machine to resurrect their own company atleast.

but I saw a video on you tube of car and it looked good...
we have to wait till 2016...till the date its launched......:)

When it comes to alternate energy sources, most automakers think simply—battery power or bust. That’s what makes the Hyundai Tucson Fuel Cell an outlier. The SUV will be the first mass-produced hydrogen car in the U.S. when it debuts this spring.

Because hydrogen fuel infrastructure is more or less non-existent, Hyundai’s rollout will be small. The car will be available at select dealers in Southern California, all within range of the company’s sources of hydrogen, which include a nearby waste water treatment plant. Local drivers will be able to “gas” up for free at any of seven distribution stations. A fill-up takes less than 10 minutes and lasts for up to 300 miles. The company claims that the Tucson charges more quickly and has a longer range than traditional EVs. It’s also clean: The only exhaust is water vapor.

@Dem!god what say?? :-)

As long as there is Oil they will never allow mass production of cars that run on very cheap fuel. Its all about money.

great news.....
fuel cell concept is good but don't know if it will be mass produced......
article already states H2 fuel station are almost non-existent.......and this will take years to come here..:(....
but I still feel ...these type of cars must come in the market.....so, as to reduce the pollution problem.....
its a very good concept if we can master it and make it cheap........:-)
u buy one soon.....;)

Most cars run on air (mixed with a bit of gasoline vapor)

London
: Hold your breath! French car maker Peugeot is all set to sell the first air-powered hybrid car from next year. With new ‘Hybrid Air’ engine system – the first to combine petrol with compressed air – the firm says the car could reduce petrol bills by 80 percent when driven in cities.

“Air power would be used solely for city driving, automatically activated below 43mph,” said Peugeot in a press release. The system combines a gasoline engine with an air engine which is used at speeds under 70mph. This enables it to run on petrol or air, or a combination of both. According to the company, by 2020, the car could achieve an average of 117 miles a gallon.

The new engine system is a breakthrough for hybrid cars because expensive batteries would no longer be needed. Cars fitted with Hybrid Air system would be cheaper to buy than current hybrid models. Drivers never run the risk of running out of compressed air because the car would have a sophisticated device that ensures it replenishes itself automatically, added Peugeot.

Pakistani auto sector should also try to launch their own cars running on just Air....:pakistan:
I am 100% sure that NESCOM and GIDS can help to develop even a better technology than what Peugeot has in this car.

Since last 4-5 year they are making good and impressive stuff, just like citroen and renault, before that it was close to bullsh!t.

I wonder if they solved the horrendous noise associated with this engine.
