The reason the lions are not fighting back is their teeth and claws have been removed. Please sign this petition. PS-It's the Islamic thing to do. I'm sure many forum members are strong about calling themselves Muslim and pray and fast alot. Now give those prayers and fasts some meaning by showing support for these helpless animals. Hadrat Muhammed would condemn these zoo keepers and Islam commands we treat animals with respect.

In all fairness, a baton, particularly used in a controlled manner as in the vid, is nothing to a lion. These cats give upper cuts to each other's faces every day, and a stick has nothing on a lion's jab.

If you saw horses being trained for all that fancy dance and strut they put up for the horse and cattle show...

All that having been said, since you brough up Halal vs Haram from an Islamic perspective, then yes the idea of keeping animals in captivity might have to be done away with, with the exception of the purposes of education, med research etc.

I think it's shariaically illegal to slap someone, even an animal, but the rider is allowed to control his steed using a whip even if it's looked down upon.
