Dhaka, July 30 (UNB) Speakers at a roundtable discussion here on Tuesday said people want to see the emergence of a third political force as a better alternative to Awami League and BNP to free the nation from the ongoing crisis.
They also said both the Awami League and BNP want to cling to power at any cost whenever they assume office to continue their corruption, plundering and politicisation.
The main reason behind the recent political violence is the conflict between the two main political parties to go to power or cling to power, they added.
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) arranged the roundtable titled The countrys ongoing political crisis and the way to overcame it at the Jatiya Press Club.
There has been no change in the system of governing the country despite repeated changes in power The present government has created a constitutional crisis creating an obstacle to the peaceful handover of power. Now a third political force is necessary to overcome the crisis, said JSD president ASM Abdur Rab.
JSD general secretary Abdul Malek Ratan presented the keynote paper at the programme.
Echoing Rab, Jatiya Party Presidium member Kazi Zafar Ahmed said the emergence of third political force is the aspiration of people though it is yet to happen.
Im confident that the third political force will must emerge to free the nation from the present crisis and take the nation forward, he added.
Criticising the Prime Minister for her remark in parliament that the election will not be held if the opposition sticks to its demand for restoration of the caretaker government, he said, Is it her wish to win the polls though a blueprint?
Krishak Sramik Janata League president Kader Siddiqui also slammed the government for what he said its growing repressive acts and failures to run the state. This regime is worse than autocrat one.
Nagarik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna said Awami League and BNP have turned into limited companies the managing directors (Hasina and Khaleda) of which enjoy all the power.
He opined that the present political crisis has created over the fight between two ladies to go to power.
Manna, however, said, The current crisis is not intricate rather those who created it are extremely complicated.
Expressing his crave for a positive a change in the countrys politics and political culture, Manna said it is necessary for emergence of a third political force for the betterment of the country.
Addressing the programme, Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh (BDB) President AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury said the government has scrapped the non-party caretaker government system as part of its conspiracy to return to power by a stage-managed election.
Mentioning that it is the responsibility of any government to ensure free and fair polls with participation of all, he said the way the government is trying to arrange the next general election the opposition parties are unlikely to take part in it.
He voiced dissatisfaction over the ongoing political crisis following the stubbornness of the government to hold a lopsided election under their arrangement and said an alternative political platform is needed to form to save the country from it.
Chaired by the JSD president, the programme was addressed, among others, by Gano Forum joint secretary Safiullah, Dhaka University teachers Prof Mahbubullah, Prof Dr Syed Anwar Husain and Gonoshastaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury.

Bangladeshi DGFI......i used to see those idiots everyday when i used to go to kurmitola golf club.....the crisp shirt, the army hair cut and the obvious look to checkout who I am due to my music blasting from the car.......or one guy on the bike and the other one sitting behind with cellphone literally telling the world 'I AM DGFI, I AM IMPORTANT'...thats BD FGDI for you
but yeah most of the times they hold a hambondista on their hands to let people know they are ishpy...hushhhhhh !
