Let's make a repository of words that are repeatedly used incorrectly or repeatedly contain typos and let's do it without pointing fingers at anyone.


To start it all off

Persecute

per·se·cute/

Verb:

Subject (someone) to hostility and ill-treatment, esp. because of their race or political or religious beliefs.

Harass or annoy (someone) persistently.

Prosecute

pros·e·cute/

Verb:

Institute legal proceedings against (a person or organization): "they were prosecuted for obstructing the highway".

Institute legal proceedings in respect of (a claim or offense): "the state's attorney's office decided this was a case worth prosecuting".

I as many others are heavily reliant on spell checker and sometimes when in a hurry spellchecker can pick out the wrong word

I have to double check all the time and doubtless get it wrong when I get careless.

The other fun one is 'fewer' (countable items) v/s 'less' (uncountable): To drink less cola, drink fewer cans.

Bending Over - The act of messing up, screwing up, letting someone take advantage of you, etc.
e.g
NS to Indians: Pakistan will withdraw unilaterally from Siachen.
Asim Aquil: NS is bending over to Indians.
