If liberal socialism can be considered the essence of what is good in man then Norway is the personification of the highest ideals of the human condition.

From the way it treats it's weak, poor, infirm to those condemned like Anders Breivik Norway shows the rest of the world the way to go. I agree with @Norwegian what many dream of as a utopian Islamic system Norway has it for real but without chopped heads, flogging and gender/other inequities.

Yes, of course. Here in UK same type of thing is done regularly. One good example from nearly 30 years ago is the "Liver run" in 1987. This is 29 mile dash by Met Police in less than 35 minutes through London streets was last leg of journey that had began nearly 200 miles north in Hull. Watch the amazing but old footage. All to save a life.

In Soviet times, there were cases when for the sake of the one patient's life IL-76 flew from Vladivostok to Moscow.

Pak army/PAF etc do that often... We have a member here who was real anti Military.. His family member (yes a civilian) was evacuated by the army aviation guys ..

I originally posted a similar pic, but I don't believe cargo pods are what's being talked about here.

I think there are actually small compartments under the wings of the F-16:

The article talks of "little used" compartments, so I take that as an assumption to rule out cargo pods, since they aren't of little use.

I've never worked on anything military, let alone a military aircraft, nor ever even been in the military, so I could be wrong too. But there's room under the wings and a lot of opening.

Maybe one's a cargo compartment too?

Norway’s F-16s are rarely fitted with the cargo tanks and it was an incredible stroke of luck that the jet was carrying one at the time, Lieutenant Colonel Kleppe said.
