The pathankot attack- the deeper you dig into the topic, the more complicated and murkier it gets. It used to be a sleepy town when I lived there more than a decade ago.
So far our media have fed us with the latest updates, and in some cases (like that of NDTV) they revealed the positions of our assets..or so i heard. I hope they get a ban.
I have opened this thread only to discuss the incidents which preceded the attack. I've posted it in senior's section to avoid trolls. Some of these questions have already been raised on other threads but unfortunately its not easy to spot the answers in a sea of troll posts.

I'm sure many would agree that SP's story doesnt sound credible. The following are the questions raised, and the possible answers to it.

Q Why would the terrorists hijack a vehicle with blue (VIP/Police)beacon on top?
My view: The blue beacon would have helped the terrorists to cross several check points without any hindrance.

This is the abandoned vehicle found not very far from the air force station.

Q why were they (SP Salwinder singh and his cook) let off?
SP's answer: The terrorists were not aware that he was a police officer.
My view: The same terrorists who had hijacked an innova brutally killed its driver so that he would not raise an alarm. This part doesnt fit in.

Q Gurdaspur happened not so long back so why would the SP be without his security detail in a neighboring district?
SP's story: He had gone to offer prayers at Pir baba.
My view: Possible! During the "mandir parade" most of the men in uniform do not wear their leather belts or carry weapons. Its their habit. But SP and his carelessness is evident.

Q Despite the high alert, DSC men were sitting ducks. They were unarmed and easy targets. But why were they unarmed?
My view: No idea. Infact i am against the idea of putting DSC men, who are ex-service personnel, on guard of our nuclear labs and other sensitive areas.

Q Why did the terrorists use stolen mobiles and not satellite phones( which has been provided in most of the attacks so far) ?
My view: confused.

My conclusion:
The attack was carried out in a haste after Modi's visit to Pakistan. It must have originally been planned for 26th Jan, that should explain terrorist's lack of instruments and ill planning.

I am also suspecting some drug peddlers & bsf ppl helped them to sneak into our side so easily...

Why the combing operations was not carried out on Friday night itself jointly with Army?

.
it maybe off topic but is the base cleared yet? not trolling
Several parts of declaring the operation is clear. First was to neutralize the terrorists. The same is done. Second was to find if any IEDs are planted, this is still underway. Third to find arms and ammunition, Still underway.
Hopefully by tomorrow, they'll declare operation over.

Well PM's visit was surprise to a lot. I won't comment on criminal investigation part, but yes there are several glaring lapses on part of security setup. The very fact that some crazy men with huge cache of arms could almost come to an Airbase unchallenged poses several questions on system. Lets see we get answers and system becomes more impermeable.
It also raises one question, who really doesn't want talks between India and Pakistan to succeed.
Today on another thread we watched certain senior members ridiculing Indian forces and almost justifying this act of terror with usual Kashmir link. I'm disturbed if this school of thought founds more resonance with sections of public anywhere. Such acts of terror cannot be justified by any reason.
Few months back, we had a discussion on how in 1999, efforts of Vajpayye sahab and PM Shariff were destroyed by antics of Pervez Musharraff and it destroyed any chance of any dialogue later.
we keep loosing decades after decades owing to these acts of stupidity. Pray tell Why?

There is two possible chances in here
According to new reports .
Terrorist infiltrated as two separate groups .
So we can also see this through another perspective .
What would be the response of the an alert govt establishments if it was a decoy .?
Imagine if one group draw attention from entire forces and other group just sneak in to base through that cover .
If that is case then all these episode was a preplanned story of terrorists and their handlers .Put forward a decoy to cover another groups .And it was successful
Another chances is a possible insider support (Khalistan elements ) ,including this SP .

Conclusion part . Perhaps a maximum utilisation of leaked info from that IAF man.

.
ew months back, we had a discussion on how in 1999, efforts of Vajpayye sahab and PM Shariff were destroyed by antics of Pervez Musharraff and it destroyed any chance of any dialogue later.
It's must be a coincidence that it was NS then and NS now. Albeit, I do want to believe that NS genuinely wants peace between the 2 countries but his government is sans any power to take such decisions.

Punjab is definitely being pushed back into militancy.

.
Why whenever Pak India comes closer, these type of incidence happened from nowhere. Who Indian suspect, beside jihadi organization ?

.
The Drugs problem in Punjab is going to take a heavy toll on the nation. Nothing is secure now. Many people are getting involved for money. Even some in responsible positions. Once they get involve, there is no escape. Then they end up doing what they are told. Drug smuggling in border states should be tackled on national security basis, otherwise more Pathankot kind of incidents will occur.
It is very clear that our own countrymen were assisting the terrorists in logistics. As the saying goes, everyone is on sale, only the rates are different.

I dont doubt Sharif, but problem is what army wants?
Army in Pakistan, doesn't have a conventional role, as in other democracies. I dont say that everyone holds this view, but i get a feeling, some section wants Indo Pak relations to remain strained, so that they can remain in prominence. Such events, that suffix every dialogue tell us that there is some elements beyond control of democratic government.

Well, Indian army might be suspect in this stand off. If you guys remember, once right before Clinton visit to India, a massacre of sikhs . Which was blame on Pakistan. But, fail to find Pak connection.

Let us wait for investigation report.
Prima facie it is clear that the terrorists sneaker across the border and caused this event.
However unless we find who their handlers are and what the motive is, everything would be speculation.
My point is that Democratically elected government's decisions are equal to general will of people and therefore when PM Shariff extends handshake of friendship, it is safe to believe that this is what a common man also wants.
Unfortunately when such events occur, it causes massive confusion and even raises questions on motives. Talks, i'm afraid cannot move in such environment of lack of faith.
Do you agree?

No doubt , hundreds of smuggling tunnels between Pak and India. Exactly, same as US Mexico border. It will be difficult investigation but not impossible. Let s wait and see.

@Parul i've heard rumors that drug problem has support of some political parties as well. Its a real shame that in these times also youth are taking up drugs and not getting any counselling support against this menace.

Q Why would the terrorists hijack a vehicle with blue (VIP/Police)beacon on top?
My view: The blue beacon would have helped the terrorists to cross several check points without any hindrance.

The entire story of hijacking this vehicle is suspect & does not make sense. The Punjab Police has gone rotten to the core. This Policeman ( I refuse to call him an officer) seems a part of the problem for more reasons than one,

Q why were they (SP Salwinder singh and his cook) let off?
SP's answer: The terrorists were not aware that he was a police officer.
My view: The same terrorists who had hijacked an innova brutally killed its driver so that he would not raise an alarm. This part doesnt fit in.

Ask yourself why would a terrorist let off anyone who has seen them ? It does not matter who the person is - once compromised they would kill him and not laet him off to tell his story & raise an alarm.

All this is a lie.

The Policeman had evidently gone to help cross these men as they do to drug smugglers.

Does it make sense that this fool had gone to a Pir baba that early in the morning !!

Which " Mandir Parade ' are you talking off !! There is no such thing among the police force- you are mixing up.

Q Despite the high alert, DSC men were sitting ducks. They were unarmed and easy targets. But why were they unarmed?
My view: No idea. Infact i am against the idea of putting DSC men, who are ex-service personnel, on guard of our nuclear labs and other sensitive areas.

Where are you getting your inputs from ?

The DSC men killed were mostly in the Langar ( Dining area) . They were staff preparing breakfast & cooks do not carry weapons while cooking. Yet the Havildar did well by engaging one in combat & killing him only to fall to bullets of another.

As regards their age, check what is the retiring age of a Jawan / JCO in the BSF/ CRP or anyother PMF . These man are the same age. They retire from the army in late 30's / Early 40's and voluntarily seek further employment .

What makes you feel that Nuclear installations are guarded by the DSC alone ?

Coming from an Army environment these men are far more professional & dedicated than any of the PMF

Q Why did the terrorists use stolen mobiles and not satellite phones( which has been provided in most of the attacks so far) ?
My view: confused.

All this is a lie that needs verification.
