I'm well aware of this but there's more indices that play into human development rather than the single one size fits all approach as taken by the HDI Index and even then India is what 5 or 6 places ahead of us ?
Bear in mind, India is large and has a lot of natural resources to develop their nation, while we in Bangladesh don't have that luxury add to that you have been independent since '47, had proper governments unlike our flip flop from civil war to democracy to dictatorship to divine mandate.
In five or so years, the indices will indicate what we all know.
India is also cursed with a massive population. Desis are ungainly and an unruly populace, we're blesses in that we have only 160 million idiots to deal with and the flow of population growth has also been dealt with.
Just take a look at life expectancy, girls enrollment, participation of women in the workforce, infant mortality rate, per capita income and so on....
If we're not ahead of India on all those counts, we will be in a while.
The thing is while India's middle class is undoubtedly living the good life, the poor ones are swept under the carpet and having a one billion strong population is a developmental obstacle.
But anyhow it is not a race but rather a friendly competition of sorts, good luck to India and Pakistan.
