Imran Khan has always talked about exiting this WOT.

Can he promise us that he will keep the pressure on 24/7 to keep the NATO routes closed? Ideally, it would be a physical presence at the roads -- actually, physically blocking the roads.

Exiting the WoT may be the easy & popular measure but then what? The very people who support him will turn on him when he raises taxes as that would be imperative especially if the U.S. blocks all aid. Rhetoric is always easy, governance is a much harder nut to crack. The only Pakistanis who ask for taxes to be levied are those who won't be paying it, i.e. the overseas Pakistanis. It stands to logic that any resident Pakistanis who wish to pay tax are already doing so. The WoT may not seem like a bad idea after all to a politician when the alternative is wide spread anger when a new taxation regime hits.

Btw, Imran Khan has already said that he does not want to be a hero (because heroes have a small shelf life in Pakistan - Karan Thapar interview), The man obviously does not want to stick his neck out because he fears the consequences of doing so, yet so many Pakistanis believe that he will actually be able to make a difference in a country whose PM has just admitted that certain institutions of the state are simply not under his control.

The so-called WOT in Afghanistan is just a front for American shaping of geopolitics. This reshaping is 100% against Pakistan's long term interests so exiting it is a national security prerogative.

Declare assets or face civil disobedience movement: Imran - PakTribune

Imran Khan said that the most serious and biggest problem of Pakistan was corruption and tax evasion and that his party would wipe it out if it came into power. He disclosed that Pakistan was facing a loss of more than Rs 3,000 billion annually due to tax evasion and corruption.

Institute proper tax collection to reduce dependence on foreign aid. What a concept!
