Panel clears BJP in church attacks, Moily fumes

I have been trying to say one thing that Infinity and other Christians are having a tough time understanding.

Most of the Main stream Christians have nothing to do with this conversion and these cheap stuff. It is these self proclaimed 'gospelists' who go about prattling the verses of the Bible to suit their self-serving claims and get their monthly foreign funded salary.
All the incidents of violence that came to the notice of the team were directed against what is known as independent churches, house churches, Christian fellowships and associations belonging to New Life, Pentecostal, Assemblies of Gods, etc. All of them are independent of the mainstream Christian churches in India.

It is time Mainstream Christians wake up and denounce the culprits who are giving a bad name to their faith.

Even after this you guys refuse to see the reality, sorry then I too have to take sides.

I think there is two side problem.

Christian Missionary do conversion either forcefully or through monetary payment.
On the other hand Hindu extremist like Ram sena do riots.

Well actual fault lies with government who has failed to taught dalits, poor and other people about the world, life and religion.

Well for me Christians are most educated. Church fathers could do wrong but not the common Christian.

Who the hell is Ram Sene, Bajrang Dal etc.? Does they represent Hindus?
Answer is NO...they are self-appointed custodian of Self-Created Hindu customs to say appropriately.

Whereas, activities of Church are been guided, monitored & advised by Vatican, the Supreme.

Dear Infinity,

If I cant comment on the issue because I am a Hindu, then neither can you - you being a christian.

But the truth is, none of these attacks were not done by the BJP/Sangh Parivar. Some were done by Ram Sene and some others by non-Hindus posing a Hindus. So Dont confuse BJP/Sangh parivar with dissident groups like Ram Sene.

Pramod Muthalik the chief of Ram Sene had long been expelled from RSS for his extremist views.

Also these attacks did not happen in a vacuum where one fine morning the Ram Sene people decided to attack churches because there was no cricket match that day. Many evangelical churches ,for example the Baptist Church of India have given propaganda notices denigrating Hinduism as a satanic cult and Hindus as devil worshippers.

So the fault is on both sides one for provocation and other for responding in a medieval manner.

So seriously get down your moral high ground.

Who has gained from the riots that took place in various parts of karnataka..........its surely BJP..........So use your common sense ......we cannt digest the idea that bajarangdal & RSS hands are clean.............They have divided the people,to unite the hinduvote..........

This is the same murky game they played in gujrat.........and is trying to play everywhere else based on its success in gujrat & karnataka...........

dont u smell something when there is a clear differrance in interim & final commission report..............

Look at this story about Christian youths who damaged a Christian Church, hoping to incite hatred against Hindus. Should not such Goebbelsian propaganda be treated as terrorism. It's certainly a hate crime, at any rate. It's important to find out who was behind these youths.

Mangalore - Seven Arrested for Damaging Church Property

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Mar 19: In connection with indulging in rampage in a banana plantation belonging to Babbukatte Nityadhar Church and trying to disrupt peace in the region, Ullal policemen arrested seven persons on Wednesday March 18.

They are Jayson Verghese (23), Vijit Sunny Rozario (21), Araki Alfred (20), Roshan Cutinho (26), all from Nityadhar Nagar and Ronald Roshan (22), a resident of Kuttar Prakash Nagar. They were produced in the court on Wednesday.

On Monday morning, the banana plantation was found to have been damaged heavily to look as if people belonging to a particular community had barged into the plantation, and a saffron flag had been planted there, signifying that Hindu outfits had been involved with the destruction. The incident took place at a time when Hindu Samajotsav was being organized in the city.

The policemen said that during interrogation, the arrested persons revealed, they wanted to disturb the peace in the region by projecting the incident as a handiwork of a particular community.

Banana Plantation that was damaged

While making inquiries about those who inflicted the above damage, the policemen could by chance, lay their hands on the two accused, who had burnt down a motor bike on November 30 near Pandit House. Joy D'Souza (20) and Calvin Johnson D'Souza, from Nityadhar Nagar, accused of this act, were arrested and produced in the court on Wednesday. The policemen are also looking at the possibility of these two having been also involved with the destruction of the banana plantation.

Under the guidance of the city rural inspector Lingappa Poojary, Ullal sub-inspector of police Shivprakash has been conducting investigation.

Mangalore: Weeds within - Seven Arrested for Damaging Church Property

This is by no means an isolated incident. There are many who have made a successful career out of inciting hatred against Hindus.

Ok --- I dont have time to reply to emotional rants. Come to talk with facts provided by a neutral source like this http://www.birdindia.org/xhtmlphp/birdactivities.php

And please do use your eyesight and read the link I posted above. It was written by a fact finding comission headed by a Christian Member of the Karnataka State Minorities Comission.

Church attacks: Ex-judge links Yeddyurappa, cops to Sangh terror

New Delhi There could be more trouble for the B S Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka.
Days after a commission set up to investigate attacks on churches in the state in 2008 gave a clean chit to the BJP and the Sangh Parivar, retired High Court judge Michael Saldanha on Monday said he had evidence to prove the state police colluded with the attackers.

State police works under and reports directly to the government which is led by BJP's Yeddyurappa.

Saldanha, who conducted an independent probe into the attacks, said he would submit his report to Karnataka Governor H R Bhardwaj. The report could give fresh ammunition to Bhardwaj who had been relentlessly attacking the BSY government.

Bhardwaj had drawn the ire of the BJP recently after he gave sanction to prosecute Yeddyurappa and one of his cabinet colleagues for corruption on the basis of a petition filed by two lawyers. It is alleged the lawyers were propped up by the opposition JD(U).

Saldanha said the Justice B K Somasekhara Committee had not just tried to “cover up” but “white-washed” the atrocities that had taken place.

He said the committee in its interim report had in “no uncertain terms” indicted” organisations such as the Bajrang Dal and Sree Rama Sene and held the state government responsible. He alleged that in several places, the state police participated in attacking places of worship and believers.

“There is 100 per cent evidence of two things — the state machinery and the police had a role in attacks on churches. There is videographic and photographic evidence of police entering places of worship.

Those who led the attacks appeared on television to state that they have done it. The committee ignored such overwhelming evidence,” he said.

Saldanha said “if nothing happens within a specified time frame”, he would seek judicial intervention either from the Supreme Court or the Karnataka High Court.

Activists like Swami Agnivesh and some Christian groups have called the Somasekhara report “sham” and “biased”.

Abraham Mathai, vice-chairman of the Maharashtra Minorities Commission, said they planned to write to the National Commission for Minorities to send a team to Karnataka investigate the issue afresh.

Human rights activists and Christian groups are also planning to approach the Central government.

Some attacks on churches aimed at defaming govt: Panel

The Justice B K Somasekara Commission of Inquiry, which probed the attacks on churches, on Tuesday released details of each case and named those responsible for the attacks in some cases.

As many as 57 churches and prayers halls were attacked in nine districts in the State in 2008.
Referring to St Mary’s Church in Kolar, the Commission ruled out the involvement of any Hindu organisation. The allegations of conversion are true, but they were not the ground for the attack. It was a deliberate attempt by some local group or political force to create evidence to link the attack to other such incidents involving churches, and thereby demoralise or demolish the ruling BJP government.

On the attack on St James Church at Mariyannapalya in Bangalore, the Commission confirmed there was indeed an attack. But it said attempts by Christians to convert people in the area, and resistance by the members of Adi Kaveri Trust of Chittiappa and local Hindus were the reasons for the incident.

The Church personnel did not cooperate with the police in preventing the attack. There appears to be illegal acquisition of public property by both the Church personnel and the Chittiappa group, which requires a serious inquiry, the report said.

Legal steps sought

The government and the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike should take legal steps to remove all encroachments and illegal planting of Christian Crosses, besides illegal constructions in the Kalvari Betta area, the Commission recommended.

In case of the Holy Name of Jesus Church at Rajarajeshwarinagar, the report said the attack was sporadic -- carried out by either a passerby or by some miscreants to create evidence against the ruling party.

There are indications of corruption in the City Corporation, the report said. The commissioner should uniformly regularise any irregularity in licensing, etc, regarding constructions, especially of this church, subject to rules, the report added.

A make-believe attempt

In the case of St Anthony New Church, Yedanahalli, the report said the attack was a make-believe aimed at linking it other similar incidents.

The main culprits appear to be Father Santhosh, David and his men and two police constables, B M Nagaraj and B P Nagendra Kumar. The CoD police failed in their investigation to locate the culprits, the report said.

Somasekara defends his report

Bangalore, dhns: The Justice B K Somasekara Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday said its final report on the church attacks was prepared after a detailed and transparent inquiry but was misinterpreted by a few.

Justice Somasekara, in a written clarification, stated there was no need for Christain petitioners to be apprehensive about the direct or indirect involvement of politicians, the BJP, the Sangh Pariwar and the State government in the attacks.

Every bit of inference and findings of the report was based on evidence and elaborate discussion of all contentions presented before the Commission. The final report should be read in continuation of the interim report submitted to the government in February last, the inquiry panel chief said.

He said there was no lapse on the part of the Commission and any fair comments were welcome. “But all such expressions by anybody shall be subject to legal consequences under Section 10A (1) of the Commission of Inquiry Act. Ignorance of the law is no excuse; and this will apply to all,” he said.
