Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is set to appear before JIT on June 15, 2017.

Extra security arrangements have been put in place in and around the Federal Judicial Academy where Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be questioned by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing the premier’s family’s global money trail today.

The Supreme Court began investigating Sharif late last year after the main political parties failed to agree on a committee to probe the Panama Papers leaks, and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan threatened mass protests and to ‘shut down Islamabad’.

The JIT had prepared the questionnaire for the prime minister and his children last month. It has already questioned Hussain Nawaz, the PM’s elder son. The investigation team has also grilled his younger son, Hassan.

The PM’S elder son Hussain Nawaz moved the Supreme Court for changing the JIT’s formation while Sharif’s cousin Tariq Shafi moved the top Court against what he described as harassment by JIT.

In a press statement, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Asif Kirmani Tuesday said the said it came to the knowledge of the prime minister that the workers wanted to express their solidarity with him during his appearance.

The prime minister said the PML-N workers were the assets of the party and he was aware of their sentiments and wanted to thank them.

The prime minister’s notice came shortly after PTI chief Imran Khan tweeted on Tuesday that he ‘won’t allow’ PML-N’s ‘Gullus’ to hold a show of physical strength when Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appears before the Joint Investigation Team probing his alleged offshore wealth.

The PM’S elder son Hussain Nawaz moved the Supreme Court for changing the JIT’s formation while Sharif’s cousin Tariq Shafi moved the top Court against what he described as harassment by JIT. Hussain again moved the Supreme Court against the leakage of his photograph during interrogation.

The appearance of Prime Minister of Pakistan before JIT today is not unprecedented. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has a history of appearing before Courts and commissions. Starting from Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto all the way to Asif Ali Zardari, PPP has never shied away from facing courts. Recently, high-level party officials such as Dr. Asim Hussein and Sharjeel Inam Memon have also presented themselves before the Courts.

Just one thing I want to know @Icarus

I have come to know that both Brigs are keeping their departments posted on the threats to civilian members. Is there any chance of any action has been taken and/or, is being taken against serving and non-serving ghundas?

I also questioned the inclusion of MI and ISI individuals initially because I was also feeling dejected on what happened in Dawn Leaks, my bad. But now it seems there is a reason they are there in JIT? You have any info?

I don't have any information on the progress of the investigation, it is incredibly difficult to get in touch with Sir these days as he's performing his duties with the ISI and at the JIT concurrently so he is working 20+ hours every day.
Even when I have talked once or twice with him, he has given out no details and has just asked for prayers that he be able to discharge his duties fully.
I do think that the inclusion of ISI and MI in the probe has a lot of deterrence value for the forces trying to threaten the civilian members of JIT as well.

Aaj waisay agar Camera recording band hochuki hoti tou ganjay ne lamba lait jana tha.. aur stretcher pe bahir aata yeh ganja..

Agar yeh koi drama karay tou JIT ko sahi main kutt laga deni chahiey.. Jab ilzaam aana hi hai, tou kuchh kar ke aaye.. lolll

Really? don't know.. tv channels nahi aarahy abhi..

SC has postponed hearing on JIT application till Monday ...uff.. Monday tak kiun delay kar diya? Advocate said tht today, JIT members have informed abt their unavailability as they are busy...so 1:30 tak delay kar detay hain..then AG said tht I have to appear before a committee on 1:30 , so delay it till Tuesday.. advocate said.. No.. Monday theek rahay ga...phir

Mujhe samajh nahi aaraha ke advocate ne..instead of Monday..kal kiun nahi schedule kiya? AG bhi ajeeb cheez hai.. lekin advocate ko instead of Monday..kal reschedule kar dena chahye tha.. JIT ki application par hearing itna delay kiun karrahay hain? ye bilkol hi non serious le rahay hain, JIT ki concerns ko.. kia maqsad hai..iska?
