Hussain Nawaz moves SC over JIT picture leak
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s son Hussain Nawaz has requested the Supreme Court (SC) to form a commission led by a retired or serving judge to probe the leak of his JIT picture.
Hussain, through his counsel Khawaja Haris, also pleaded the top court to stop the joint investigation team — tasked to probe the ruling family’s offshore wealth — from recording videos during interrogation.
“The photograph released is aimed at humiliating the petitioner and is a violation of his fundamental right to human dignity as guaranteed to him under Article 14 of the Constitution,” maintained the PM’s son.
The petition demanded the court “to direct the JIT members to immediately stop the video recording of its proceedings relating to recording of statements and interrogation of witness etc [and] to constitute an independent commission headed by a retired or sitting judge of the apex court to inquire into the circumstances leading to the leaking of the petitioner’s photograph on social media and to identify the person or persons responsible for the same.”
Last week, a picture of the premier’s eldest son waiting for a session with the JIT at the Federal Judicial Academy went viral on social media with government voicing its reservations over the leak. In a statement, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb said the modus operandi of the leak and its publication was regrettable, demeaning and a breach of investigation rules.
However, the opposition in the National Assembly questioned the motives behind the photo leak of Hussain while being quizzed about the Sharif family’s offshore assets, claiming it was a ‘deliberate move’ on behalf of the government.

SC of Pakistan should immediately reject this motion. What SC has to do with this leak? and by the way .... how does it affect him or anyone?..was he in a compromised position?...So this is another attempt to waste the time of SC and divert its attention from the investigation. Furthermore, it is the govt that is responsible for this leak. IF SC decides to even entertain it, it should be deferred until after the final verdict in Panama and Hudaibiyya mills have been announced
