Bangladesh feels frustrated with Pakistan over its export of terror, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said.

Dhaka’s reasons for pulling out of the SAARC summit in Islamabad were “different from India’s,” she recently told influential Indian daily told The Hindu

“It was over the situation in Pakistan that we decided to pull out. Terror (from Pakistan) has gone everywhere, which is why many of us felt frustrated by Pakistan.

“India pulled out because of the (Uri attack), but for Bangladesh the reason is totally different,” she said.

She said Bangladesh’s pullout from SAARC was because of “the hurt” felt over Pakistan’s harsh criticism of the war crimes trials which led to execution and imprisonment of top war criminals for atrocities during Bangladesh’s struggle to secede from Pakistan in 1971.

“There is a lot of pressure on me to cut off all diplomatic ties with Pakistan for their behaviour. But I have said the relations will remain, and we will have to resolve our problems. The fact is, we won our liberation war from Pakistan, and they were a defeated force,” Hasina said.

She added that India’s support during and after Bangladesh’s war is greatly appreciated.

On the issue of China and President Xi Jinping’s visit to Dhaka, she said closer ties with China are a way of increasing regional prosperity.

Hasina gave the interview from her Ganabhaban, the prime minister’s official residence, ahead of her visit to India where she will attend the BRICS-BIMSTEC summit.

She will be in Goa on Oct 15 and 16 to attend the outreach involving nations surrounding the Bay of Bengal.

She was asked about her take on India’s decision to launch strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) after the Uri terrorist attack which left 19 Indian soldiers dead.

“Both the countries should maintain the sanctity of the LoC and that can bring peace,” said the Bangladesh prime minister.

Dear @Riyad
Do you have some personal problem with Pakistan?
I always see negative stuff from your side, every time & every where.

This guy is a false flagger.... hence the anti Pakistani position.

Hasina is very consistent in her game. Some people just interpret 2 lines more.

Absolutely agree.... ppl just don't see it...

She uses India to stay in power.... will get an underling to say something to please Indians here and there.

But real politics if anyone cares to ask is BD position is consistent irrespective of political party in charge .... total neutrality in India Pakistan issues.... completely strategically aligned to china, USA and Saudi in that order of preference.
