LAHORE: Ghani Global Group has formally inaugurated its tubing glass manufacturing plant near Phool Nagar Bypass, District Kasur.
This is the first ever state-of-the-art European technology glass tubing plant of the country, completed with a cost of over Rs 1.4 billion. The plant is operated by foreign experts.
The company has imported brand new machinery from, world-renowned manufacturers of glass machinery from Italy, Japan, Germany, UK and China. Technical know-how and furnace design of the plant has been based on latest available European technology "Kimble" having handsome experience and patent name in glass tubing field.
Speaking to the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, Ghani Global Group Chief Executive Atique Ahmad Khan said that glass tubing manufactured by the company is import substitute and would save millions of dollars in shape of foreign exchange for the nation. He said that the glass tubes manufactured by Ghani Global Group is equal to European standard for pharmaceutical use, whereas the glass tubes being imported in Pakistan from China is not meeting international pharmaceutical standard.
"With the start of production at Ghani Global Glass, international standard would be available in Pakistan at competitive prices," he said.
The project is spread over on a vast area of more than 108 kanal at Lahore-Multan Road, Phool Nagar Bypass, District Kasur, behind the Ghani Gases Limited (an associated company).
Beside meeting domestic demand and curtailing import quantum, Ghani Global Glass is planning to export the glass tubing to Afghanistan and SAARC countries.
Albaraka Bank Country Head and President Shafqaat Ahmed was the chief guest of the ceremony, which was attended by former finance minister Dr Salman Shah, Ghani Group founding member Aitzaz Ahmad Khan along with leading bankers. All directors of the company were also present on the occasion.
