Pakistan’s Economic Management Gets Thumbs Up From IMF

Pakistan has been to IMF mafia more than 21 times. Back then it was best thing to do. Under PTI it is very bad.

Every time it went to IMF, Kashmir issue was dealt a blow.

This puppet government of international mediators is a national security risk

. .
Then question instead why Pakistan cannot manage its finances and must run to IMF again and again to save itself from bankruptcy.

Pakistani governments do not Pakistan.

Pakistani governments are propped up by the mafia. The current one is so dedicated that it went to daddy Amreeka for mediation in times of 'peace'.

.
Can you summarize a few points on your last para? And also please comment if the reforms of last couple of years are steps in the right direction in fixing the structural issues.

Hi, to be very brief... Pakistan's problem stems from its inability to raise its investment rate (gross fixed capital formation) to anything appreciable.

The reforms under PTI/PMIK are more reactionary to deflate the previous unsustainable trajectory....so of course its in the right direction (like bringing someone away from edge of the cliff).

But the longer institutional deficit problem (that will encourage higher savings and internal investment and equity development) remains to be seen, that will need 10 - 20 years to develop in dedicated+commited manner (and spanning past politics+current vested interests) in my estimation (from time other developing countries have taken or are taking). For that I believe Pakistan has to address how its current powerbrokering is set up.... too much unquestioned flow of resources goes to some entrenched narratives....away from productive investments (which would also show up on ledger of GFCF/equity so you can actually take quality competitive loans and attract quality FDI etc)

I do like the PM... his heart is in the right place..... but his behaviour post Kashmir annexation...when he was running around all flustered & looking panicked....we all got to agree was embarrassing.
