Another round of talks in this regard is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.

Talks between the prime minister and leader of the opposition in the National Assembly remained inconclusive on Friday. Both sides failed to finalise the prospective caretaker prime minister before the PM left for Turkey.

Next meeting on Tuesday: Impasse in Shah-Abbasi talks on caretaker PM

Sources privy to the Abbasi-Shah meeting said the opposition leader sought the PM to pick either former governor State Bank Dr Ishrat Hussain or Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi or former chief justice of the Supreme Court Tassaduq Hussain Jillani.

The government, however, was pressing for one of its own candidates: Former secretary of the ECP Ishtiak Ahmad Khan and former chief justices Jawad S Khawaja and Anwar Zaheer Jamali.

Lets see what this mid-wife can do to nourish the crying political babies...

In case the leader of the house and leader of the opposition in NA fail to agree on caretaker PM, the matter would constitutionally land before speaker NA who would form an eight-member parliamentary committee comprising MNAs and Senators from ruling and opposition parties to pick a candidate as the caretaker PM.

The Election Commission of Pakistan would appoint a candidate as caretaker PM the way it did in 2013 when the ECP appointed Mir Hazar Khan Khoso after government and opposition failed to agree on a candidate.

According to sources, no candidates have been finalized for caretaker premier yet since the PM wants the inclusion of other political parties in the process and get their respective inputs.

according to the 20th amendment..

  • The amendment reduced the number of committees at provinces for appointing caretaker chief ministers and their cabinets.
  • It requires to constitute an eight-member committee each at the Center and the Provinces to nominate the prime minister and the chief ministers respectively and their cabinets.
  • If the constituted committees failed to evolve consensus on a caretaker set-up within three days, the matter would be referred to the ECP for appointing the Care taker Prime Minister and Chief Ministers.
  • The Amendment now requires the Chief Justice of Pakistan to administer oath of the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), who will then administer the oath to newly appointed members of the Election Commission.
  • The amendment requires to follow the same procedure for extension in the tenure of members of ECP as specified for the Chief Election Commissioner, Similarly the procedure to remove an ECP Member would be same as the removal of Chief Election Commissioner.
  • Member of the ECP is now required to send his resignation to the President.
  • Under the amendment the provision of not holding an office of profit will now also apply to the members of ECP like the Chief Election Commissioner

From where they puled him out?
Important positions are being handed over to complete dummies so that the few hereditary rulers can continue their reign.
President Mamnoon hussain was discovered from the ruins of Harappa and now this guy

At least we'll have same name President and PM!

In short he was pipliya before .
Btw lets see if its the case.

I would prefer Dr. Lodhi. She was one of those diplomats, who were sidelined during Zardari rule.
