VC I knew the intellect couldn't last but hey it was great whilst it lasted!!
Have you looked around lately? After shooting the feet, knees, belly, and chest, the "majority" is about to shoot itself in the head, taking Pakistan down with it.
so we should simply shoot all corrupt political leaders and start all over again lol
I don't understand your comment; can you please explain it a bit better for my benefit?
Sorry VC i should have made it clearer it was Variego and Aryan comments. The 2+2=5 !!
Under the current system, yes, unless the Courts ruled it unconstitutional in terms of infringing upon the rights of Pakistani citizens, as it currently stands. So if the majority of people of Pakistan want this law to stay in its current form (through the democratic process) would it be acceptable ?
You are correct that flaws, ineptitude and corruption in the judiciary, legislature and government institutions contribute to the mess - but my point is that with the kind of environment religious extremists have created, silencing those who challenge these laws, many in our legislature and judiciary might be choosing to stay silent out of fear.AgNoStIc MuSliM
Who do you hold accountable - the judiciary system or those that apply it. Is their a separation of powers in Pakistan? I dont believe their is. I also believe the law is molded and manipulated so much that one may go to sleep and by the morning another sentence or 2 have been added to the law book. I am not being hyper critical i am frustrated with the implementation

I think we could replicate the US Bill Of Rights and come up with a set of 'unalienable human rights of ALL Pakistani citizens', regardless of religion or race.I think we have to be honest and accept that the concept of democracy in this world can not be thought of in absolute term but relative. No country has yet arived nirvana or utopia. Some countries are further down the road than others. perhaps the UN should be tasked with producing a minimum common denominator arrived at by consensus by all countries that we could accept as right or wrong without ulterior motives.

With respect Ahmad, like any country, Pakistan has a right to decide the laws that will govern its land and if thats supporting the blasphemy law so be it. We live in a democracy dont we?

Sorry to keep reiterating this, but the people of Pakistan DO NOT GET TO HEAR EVERYTHING, when religious thugs murder high profile dissenters like Taseer and those who oppose certain religious interpretations and laws are threatened.I think the people of Pakistan must realise that appointing flawed characters in our system is the weakness brother. The people of Pakistan want to believe everything they hear but to hear everything is good, but to believe is debatable.

Then any law would have to pass that test, of whether its implementation violated the 'fundamental rights' of any Pakistani citizen.
Of course that would also mean that Pakistan would have to strike down laws preventing non-Muslims from becoming head of state, since such laws are inherently discriminatory.
My Dear, Laws are made 1400 years ago for all muuslims equally........these are jews law.....which we dont accept.
Our Prophet Muhmmad PBUH made best laws for us, then y r acting upon jew laws.........R u Jew or Muslim?
The one who dont accept Prophet PBUH laws is out of Islam.......Islam means U have to accept the rules and regulations of Islam.........simply if u join any department u have to act upon its rules n regulations U have to accept the laws of that department, same here I u say that u r Muslim U have to Accept Prophet Muhammad PBUH laws, else u r not muslim.
