In a survey conducted by Gallup Pakistan,52% of Pakistanis said they consider the Taliban to be a bigger threat to their country than India. However, 45% maintained that India was the greater danger for their country, while 3% did not respond to the survey. These results contrast strikingly with a similar survey conducted in 2009, which showed that 59% of Pakistan’s residents considered the US to be a major threat, while 18% believed India was a threat and 11% considered the Taliban a threat.

A Times of India report in 2009 states thatPakistanis were afraid that the US wanted to control their country’s strategic assets and many blamed them for the violence in South Waziristan instead of the Taliban, though many believed the offensive was necessary. The report also mentions that in the 2009 poll, the major question being asked was whose war Pakistan was fighting, Islamabad’s or Washington’s. Furthermore, in that year, Pakistan’s army and Taliban militants launched offensives against one another, with Peshawar being the worst affected. The Pakistan Taliban’s attacks on a school in Peshawar last month seems to have changed attitudes. In the present survey, 2,607 men and women in rural and urban areas of the four provinces of Pakistan were surveyed.

Although the numbers indicate that Pakistanis consider the Taliban to be the greater threat (52% vs 45% towards India), India is still perceived to be no less threatening. This can be seen in the Pakistanis’ reaction to Indians in the aftermath of the Peshawar school massacre; there were reports of Pakistanis blaming India for the attack.

. . .
What's more worrying is that 45% still believe it to be India. I guess a barelvi vs deobandi civil war is the only thing that can fix the country once and for all
.

.
Yes of course internal threats are more dangerous and need to be dealt with iron hands.

.
Or, as the survey shows (52 Taliban, 45 India), Pakistan considers both Taliban and India as equal Threats and needs to deal with TTP first and then India...

Indians!!No need to get happy...:D

.
It's a good thing that Pakistanis have started realizing what's hurting them the most. Only if the lines between good and bad terrorists can be blurred further.

.
This might be the reason why the rangers provoked the BSF. In order for Pak army to have monopoly over their country, India should be the No: 1 enemy. Since there are lots of sympathizers in pakistan for taliban, taliban being No:1 enemy will not be in Pak army's interests.

.
Exactly, Taliban have world 2nd largest army , with 2nd largest population in the world with most of them having worst sentiments regarding to Pakistan? Taliban have fought 4 major wars with Pakistan and separated our eastern wing? taliban consist nuclear bomb or have multiplier times of greater economy then Pakistan? Yeah we should try to compete with taliban as they are really stronger then us. Our nation found our only supa powa enemy rest are our friends.

This survey is not true. Its not reflecting the ground conditions.

.
Internal threats are more dangerous then external ones. If we beat the internal ones then even India can't do jack to Pakistan.

Exactly that's also what India thinks and reason also..:)

.
i Like how indians mindset put Military in control of everything.
its just as stupid as blaming boko haram to be CIA funded.

.
At present, Internal threat is more dangerous for Pakistan than external threat and it must be addressed with high priority.
