According to a Gilani Research Foundation survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 29% all Pakistanis believe that Kashmiris are the most good looking people and 26% consider Pathans to have the best looks in the country. 45% have given other responses.


In a survey, a nationally representative sample of men and women from across the country were asked the following question: “In your opinion which people in Pakistan are the most good looking?” Kashmiris and Pathans stood out as admired to be the most good looking by all linguistic groups in the country. On a country wide level 29% consider Kashmiris to be the best looking while 24% consider Pathans to be best looking.

The figure varies from province to province. The appreciation for the looks of Pathans is 21% in Punjab, 15% in Sindh, 50% in Balochistan and 64% in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. The admiration for the looks of Kashmiris is 31% in Punjab, 40% in Sindh, 21% in Balochistan and 4% in Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa. The ‘others’ figure includes mostly the people of own province in the respective provinces.

Anyways I think Pakistanis are pretty good looking in general, regardless of their ethnic groups.

Even though I'm a descendant of muhajirs, I agree with this.

I went to Swat and Chitral in 2006 and the people there were beautiful, though to be honest there are some parts of Pashtun culture that I dislike.

I have never hand any firsthand experiences with Kashmiris, but from the pictures I've seen they are very good looking.

i dont admire pathans for only one reason. if you dont speak pushtu. you are a nobody for them. I had pathaan friends and if we were together they wont care if i didnt know pushto. every two minutes or so they would start yapping in phshto among each other . pushing me out of their circle. i am sure its not only me. pathans dont marry outside their ethnicity. specially women. how many of you have seen a pathaani married to a punjabi guy?
plus they have to assert their ethnicity in almost evrything. if they are angry and abusive. it is excusable because they are pathan. if they are physically strong.and there is ways this demeaning tone towards non pushtoons .
for these reasons i dont apreciate pathans. sorry

Sounds like desi obsession with fair skin, fairer the person more beautiful he/she is. Not saying anything about pakistan because same is the trend in India too.

I respect your opinion, I think you raise good points. I've seen some of this blatant ethnocentrism by many in the Pathan community I attribute it to sheer pride and perhaps social conditioning. Whether there is something truly wrong with this or not is up for debate.

As far as the "admiration" goes the survey asked "admiration" for "good looks" not personality or character.

Seems about right, don't socialize with them if they do that, it shows a lack of respect on their part and really just a lack of courtesy.

Did you know a considerable amount of times if a Pathan woman marries with a man outside her ethnicity in Pakistan some in the Pathan community shun her or looks down on her. I've also heard some Pathan families are open to inter-ethnic marriage in Pakistan. So again you do raise a good point.

15% in sindh is nothing, there are many pashtun living in sindh and its natural to appreiate the beauty of other nations other than sindhi

personally i think the survey has proved that pakistanis are not obsessed about the fairer skin, i have seen may ugly pathans, and there are ugly many sindhis/balochis and punjabis. many are not fair like pathans but equally beautiful

the pathans are fair skinned but most of pathans face features which i dont admire about is their sturdy hard features in the males, so it all depends the personal shoice

personally i think karachites are the most beautiful people in pakistan
