Pakistani troops fire on Indian posts near LoC in Poonch
JAMMU: In a ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistani troops on Sunday opened heavy firing from medium machine guns (MMGs) and small arms along with rocket-propelled grenades on Indian forward posts in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
"Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire. They fired RPGs and opened MMG and small arms firing on Indian forward posts in Krishna Gati sub-sector in Poonch district," an army officer of 16 Corps said.
Pakistan troops subjected our posts in Poonch to heavy fire using 3 rounds of RPG and 80 rounds of 7.62 mm MMG and small arms at around 1.35 pm, he said, adding that it continued for half an hour.
"Our troops exercised restrain," the officer said, adding that there was no loss of life or injury to anyone in the firing.
Earlier, Pakistani troops violated ceasefire on May 15 and 14 by firing on Border Out Posts (BOPS) of Nikowal and Bhudwar in Jammu sector and on May 5 along the LoC in Poonch sector.
In April, there were two ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops in Krishna Gati sector of Poonch district on April 27 and 24.
