Pakistani tribal chiefs threaten to join Taliban

makes it clear.Gul Bahadur and Mullah Nazir have formed a new taliban block .
Recent missile strikes have targeted them specially.
While areas controlled by TTP and Mohmand specially hasnt been targeted.

I think this makes it very clear who is catering US interests and why these Tahrik e kaffiran e Pakistan havent been targeted by US.

1)I think its now time to support and defend sincere taliban like Gul bahadur.

2)Time to negotiate with Afghan taliban.

3)Time to raise Tribal Lashkars and ask the tribes to beat their a$ .Tribes have already announced that they are seriously thinking to call a Grand jirga on the issue of FATA and intervention of Afghan National army and the double agents working under the garb of taliban.

Agreed. We need to understand that US/CIA, Karzai are desperate to kill all our Pro-Pakistan tribal elders beacuse they are not against Pakistan.

while US/CIA is funding and supporting terrorist Baitullah Mehsud and his men beacuse they are killing innocent people in Pakistan, creating chaos.

The problem is that the army is ready to act whether its the US or the Afghan National army, but it wont unless the political leadership gives it a go ahead which it wont and we know why it wont. It is sad to see how these political thugs were united on the issue of CJ but when it comes to national security we have heard nothing. Not even one leader has raised his voice in the opposition except Mushaid hussain that Zardari should not have gone to the US/UK when they are threatning Pakistan directly. What was karzai doing in Pakistan attending the ceremony of Zardari, that asshole should have been kicked out but instead he was making press conferences with Zardari.

first thin we just cant take away from the tribals what our Quaid gave to the,

They have to be autonomous they have to have their tribal culture.

We need to solve them in their framework.Thats why I say we should support Tribals as well as Pro Pakistani taliban against Joker baitullah mehsud.

one thing more we need political concencus .Why not call all Political parties, all Ulemas,All tribal leaders and every one and Create defence committees in NWFP and declare Mehsud as terrorists declare Jihad and kill beat the hell out of TTP

Pakistan tribal chiefs warn US on raids

LEADERS of an estimated 500,000 tribesmen who have so far remained largely neutral over the conflict in Afghanistan warned last night they were poised to support al-Qa'ida and the Taliban unless US forces retreated from their strategy of attacking targets inside Pakistan.

In a major jolt to Washington's new policy of allowing cross-border raids in defiance of the Government in Islamabad, key tribal elders were reported to have met and warned that they were also prepared to raise an army to fight coalition forces in Afghanistan.

"If America doesn't stop attacks in the tribal areas, we will prepare a lashkar (army) to attack US forces in Afghanistan," Pashtun tribal chief Malik Nasrullah Khan was reported as saying in Miranshah, the largest town in North Waziristan, which has been the target of repeated US attacks in the past week.

"We will also seek support from the tribal elders in Afghanistan to fight jointly against America."

In the complicated fabric of tribal affiliations along the 1300km Durand Line that nominally separates Afghanistan from Pakistan, Malik Nasrullah is regarded as a powerful figure.

Only last month, he led a group of tribal elders in declaring support for government moves against militancy in the Kurrum Agency - a region beset by sectarian strife involving the Taliban.

In the past, Malik Nasrullah has been regarded as a moderate, but his change of position follows repeated US cross-border raids that, the Government in Islamabad insists, target mainly innocent civilians and are serving to sign up new recruits for al-Qa'ida and the Taliban.

Last night, the cross-border crisis was the subject of talks in London between newly installed Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Gordon Brown amid signs that Britain, despite its close alliance with Washington, is concerned that the new US tactic is creating sympathy for the militants.

In Pakistan on an official visit, British Justice Minister and former foreign minister Jack Straw is reported to have reflected London's concern about the US raids.

Yesterday, Mr Zardari summoned Pakistan's security tsar Rehman Malik to join him in his talks with Mr Brown, while officials in Islamabad said the Pakistan President was also planning to confront Mr Bush over the raids when he travelled to New York next week for the annual UN General Assembly session.

Last night, cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, leader of Pakistan's Tehrik-i-Insaaf (Justice) party, joined the criticism of the US-led raids, telling reporters it was time to stop "logistic support for the US and allied forces in Afghanistan".

"The best way to compel the allied forces to halt the border violations in the so-called hot pursuit of al-Qa'ida and the Taliban is to stop logistic support," said Mr Khan, referring to NATO's use of Karachi as a supply route for military supplies into Afghanistan.

The supply route is seen as Islamabad's strongest card in an otherwise weak hand.

Meanwhile, the 12-year-old son of a woman long suspected of links to al-Qa'ida and facing charges in a New York court has been returned to his relatives in Pakistan, two months after he was detained with his mother in Afghanistan.

The boy and the woman, Aafia Siddiqui, were detained outside the governor's house in Afghanistan's Ghazni province in July. The US-educated Pakistani was later flown to New York to face charges of assault on US personnel.

The US indictment alleges that during Ms Siddiqui's interrogation in Ghazni, the 36-year-old picked up a soldier's rifle, announced her "desire to kill Americans" and fired at US soldiers and FBI agents. She was wounded by return fire. Her son Ali Hassan was with her at the time of her arrest and had been in Afghan custody ever since.

Pakistan television showed footage of Hassan smiling shyly beneath a white prayer cap as an aunt kissed and embraced him at a house in the capital, Islamabad.

Ms Siddiqui vanished in Pakistan in 2003. In 2004, the FBI identified her as one of seven people wanted for questioning about suspected ties to al-Qa'ida. Her family has denied any link.
How the hell Pak army can stop 500'000 tribals to cross border?

I understand the tribal chief's reactions. Pakistani army must support the tribal chiefs because they are our people. If Pakistani army doesnt support tribal chiefs that may cause a civil war and I dont even want to think what that can lead to.

Please Pakistani army protect your own people not Americans. Pakistanis already suffered so much while Americans have been living in luxury in USA ever since they stole the land from Native Americans, help your poor innocent Pakistanis.

the tribal chiefs said that they will support army against the aggressore of our holy land. first of all we should change our foreign policy becoz it is not infavour of our country. present policy is creating problems for our new democratice government we should not carry the policy of the EX-dictatore.the next very important point is that the present government of afghanistan and their supporter are the enemy of pakistan. their president hamid karzai is the agent of india, isreal and american and their is no doubt that these people are the enemy of our holy land.it is not just the responsibility of tribal people in fact it is the obligation of every pakistani to defend our holy land.

From another thread with a similar topic.

People FATA is the Texas of Pakistan. These people love their guns and its customary that every man carries a weapon. There are over 1 Million armed civilians in FATA, not terrorists just armed. A very small percentage of the total population is inclined towards extremism but everyone takes the heat. They can not sit it out because they are in the middle of the conflict. Their relatives and neighbors die whenever there is collateral damage. I just can not see how can just sit it out when people you know are being needlessly murdered and tormented.

This is what PTI advocates and says that most of the people are on the side of the government and do not condone extremism. They just join the Taliban because they feel that by doing so, they and their loved ones are better protected. All we need to do is help and support these militias and the Taliban will be a part of history before you know it. The terrorists can not operate and succeed without the support of the locals. Get those locals on your side and you win the war. Mind you, these locals have been on your side for the better part of the history of Pakistan because we never had the need to deploy regular army in our frontier region before the WoT began.
