Say if getting convicted for rape you get a life sentence - that can be reduced to 10 years if the man involved agree's to undergo chemical castration.
No. You are quite wrong. If capital punishment was made a punishment for rape, it would almost certainly lead to rape plus murder.The fear of unknown has always haunted human concious....for if capital punishment was in place, for the fear of being caught out, any would be culprit would think twice. !!

If murder and rape both carry the same punishment - then anyone who rapes will also kill the victim. Killing and burying the victim will substantially decrease the probability of the perpetrator being caught. And even if he is caught, he is going to be put to death both ways for rape or for murder. So in all likelyhood the perp will kill his victim.
