Baitullah, Hakeem and Wali alive: TTP | Pakistan | News | Newspaper | Daily | English | Online
BAJAUR AGENCY - The spokesman of defunct Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Maulvi Omar Tuesday claimed that TTP chief Baitullah Mehsud was alive and would appear before the media either in person or through videotape within next few days to negate the government’s claims of his death.
Talking to media persons on telephone from an undisclosed location, Maulvi Omar said that Interior Minister Rehman Malik should resign for giving baseless statements about Baitullah’s death. He said that TTP chief neither had been killed nor injured, as he was not present at the place that had been attacked by the US drone missiles. However, he confirmed that Baitullah’s wife and three others, including children, had been killed in the attack. He also said that Baitullah was still present in Makeen area of South Waziristan Agency.
Talking of clashes between TTP Shura members, Maulvi Omar ruled out any conflict among members of TTP Shura, saying neither Shura held any meeting nor any clash took place.
He also said that both Hakeemullah Mehsud and Waliur Rehman were alive.
He further said that TTP Shura consisted of 42 members from Bajur, Mohmand, Kurram, South Waziristan, North Waziristan and Orakzai agencies, Darra Adamkhel, Swat and other areas.
In response to a question, he said that Azam Tariq might be appointed as spokesman of TTP in South Waziristan Agency, as there was no spokesman of the organisation in the said area.
