What's new

Pakistani students can now get Canadian study permits processed in 20 days!

I once dated a girl who used to work in HR department of Shaw Communication. Once she was bored (or may be drunk enough :) ) and she told me about joys and perils of hiring freshly minted immigrants. The problem starts with their resume, their communication, their degrees, their work experience and even interviewing. Put it mildly, Canadian businesses have no way of knowing what to expect out of a guy or gal they hired if they were an immigrants. This why almost all the bigger businesses tend to be so "particular" about Canadian work-experience and professional schools.

Immigrants would have half the problems if they have Canadian work experience and/or degrees.
That's generally true, but student visa holders are basically Canadian graduates. It again depends on your field, but in STEM, you shouldn't have trouble getting a job in most cases. Even with B.Comm/BBA, if you have something of relevance like knowing how to configure and manage SaaS tools (e.g., JIRA) and some certs (PMBOK), you can land a job. But if you're doing poli sci, and you're last name isn't Trudeau, Irvine, Ford, etc, then yeah, go back to school.

So faculty of business? Then nope it doesnt matter

If its a good college and you make use of it, it can add lot of good stuff to your career. Trust me. But lot of ppl also fall by the wayside doing it too. Think law school, you need a certain drive and aptitude for it....and to make use of it.

It just depends, I wouldnt suggest it for most people...and definitely its likely not worth it if its not a good branded school like Rotman....because you are better off using that time (and saving the money) learning it in the real world and applying yourself there....or if you are in STEM, it might be better just to do a regular masters. But contacts and rolodex is so key whatever you do after undergrad....be it job or further studies.

BTW that really sucks you are paying that much on rent. Damn.

Whos "We"?
Not knowing anything? Lmao muffin

Go find a decent job then, in one of those companies

Agri is the worst field to work in here, your better off cleaning toilets. Its recently has been filled with Mexican immigrants cause no one else wants those jobs, not even the Filipinos

Those international students drive around in brand new German and Italian cars so they are fine with that money. If Pakistani students come they well get trapped in a never ending cycle of dept and other fees.

First of all you sound like an idiot who is studying wrong major and sees not much future ahead of you.

“We” refer to our group and concerned Pakistanis who volunteered and worked hard to get this priority visa service covered for Pakistanis. It took years of lobbying and hard work that made this possible. It wasn’t cheap or easy but we got it done.

Now if Indians cAn come in droves after their parents sell their properties, live five to a room, work cleaning McDonald toilets then why can’t Pakistanis do the same?

We just created a possibility for them.

Now if someone listens to you they might think it’s not worth it. However I hope they will ignore your pessimism and come in droves to take advantage of this oppertunity and stay and get jobs in STEM.

I guess this statistic would look different after this news

Good ideas. What are the work opportunities in Canada after completing education there?
Till very recently, Canadian real estate was major employment generator. A lot of college educated people used to find employment as mortgage professional, lawyers, realtors and promoters. Recently, that has slowed down but still there are many multi-year projects underway in housing sector. There is somewhat of a shortage in energy modelling for regulation in BC atleast. So folks in environment engineering or civil/mech can learn appropriate regulations standards like STEP code and do energy modelling of newly constructed building and can get a hell lot of work as professional environment / sustainability engineer.

CAD/Architect work is another one that requires specialized education in college. Architects make a decent living and it is majorly a creative pursuit.

As oil prices will rise, more jobs related to petroleum industry will be found in Alberta, especially in Calgary. Chemical/Petro-Chemical engineers may be able to find work there.

Cities having proximity (Vancouver/Victoria) of US tech hubs like Seattle are seeing expansion of US tech firms and they are a good source of employment for EE/CompSci/ICT grads.

There is an active CGI / Special Effects industry in Burnaby BC. So if 3D-modelling and/or animation is your forte, there are gigs there.

No one lives there.... Toronto is the regional hub for software, data science, fintech and AI. Ottawa is called the silicon valley of the north. Montreal has a thriving aerospace industry with Bombardier, Pratt & Whitney, CAE, Rolce Royce, GE etc all having massive operations.

Obviously if they are studying non-technical fields they will have trouble finding a job.

The government has something called a "post graduation work visa" which is typically for 3 years and maybe you can get extension of 2 more years. You only need to work one year after graduating from Canadian university to get permanent residency.
And Vancouver has money laundering in real estate:partay:

Thanks for letting me know..... a friend of mine was on that permit and his PR was in process, but permit expired before he got PR and he got an extension for a couple years so thats why I thought.

Well if his/her PR is in process then no problem. Have to apply for a bridging work permit in this case. Visa will be extended to 6 months or 1 year. But if one cant apply for PR before 3 years one needs to go home and come back.

But for university grads there is PMP programme which is assured PR but gestation period is 18-20 months to ensure the grad stays and works in the province he studied.

I think it is more economical to complete your basic graduation like engineering,IT or other qualification in Pakistan and then go for higher qualification to such countries as it will require much less expense and you can start job more earlier

Personal attacks that's nice. There is no "we" it's only the Pakistani government. Also you seem very cut off from pakistani culture. Indians work those jobs because they dont have any issues, Pakistanis dont clean washrooms or work those types of jobs. Before you go around calling others an idiot you need to inform yourself.

Also what I am studying and what I am not is none of your concern. The fact is Canada isnt what it was a decade ago, so you can cry all you want. It's been on a steady decline

You know what's worse? The dorms are even more expensive and shiity. It's like living in a tight closet and sharing washrooms with the floor, while paying more then you would if you rent a place.

The universities here are businesses and you can ask any student that and he would agree. They will get every last penny out of you while providing you with mediocre professors. My university owes me a refund of about 50$ but it's been 4 months and I havent gotten anything. When it comes to you paying the uni then, if you are late by even an hour, they will charge you with excessive fines.

The ID cards alone are like 40$ then you have to pay for busses too. It costs 3$ for one way. So you spend 6$ everyday and if you get the university plan then you can save a little bit. The catch with that is, the university plan only works during the fall and winter. In summer you have to pay 6$ daily. Its ridiculous.

The same as UK...that is why I say it is a business. ..
I wouldnt recomend you loving to Canada. Australia is probably a better choice, but at the end of the day it's your choice. You should compare the tax systems too, you will find stupid taxes in the Canadian one like paying the native population.

Yup more or less how I remember things to be too.

LOL, trudeau (senior) wanted to do a one time settlement with them for a reason. But those wahoos were too smart....they knew they'd get lot more milking the govt teat perpetually.

I wouldn't have cared too much about that, but I wished I atleast got my money's worth. The profs care more about their research then the students. They just kinda brush any issues that the students raise.

It makes no sense at all!!! Like what's up with these laws. Everyone should be the same, the natives belong to this country now too. They should be absorbed into the system, but they get paid for not going anything and they get paid more for breeding like rabbits. That's caused so many issues, like crime and unemployment. They dont work and all they do is go around and steal. I'm generalizing but unfortunately that's how the trends are here, in central Canada.
