Pakistani Ranger sentenced to death for killing unarmed civilian

I thought that was like their job to maintain law and order . Come on , why persist in defending a wrong act , mate ? Why couldn't the personnel deal with the situation properly despite it being their livelihood ? Again , are they not trained enough to understand such things ? Do they not know the difference between a petty criminal and a terrorist and the differing threat level ?

well given the bloody civilian political parties and their vigilante activists (armed thugs waving party flags) I'm sure these rangers have seen it all....i already said clearly that I think the posturing and pointing cocked and loaded guns at him was wrong....but once he put his hand on the gun, the soldier snatched his gun backwards so the guy would lose grip of it

even then this idiot walks towards that officer and is trying to put his hand on the gun.....he shouldve been ordered to put his hands on the vehicle and spread his legs so he could be properly searched; the guy shouldnt have postured the way that he did

and a life sentence in this case is beyond ridiculous....it sets a bad precedent. It sends a message that its okay to walk around with fake guns in public parks/property

great!

Again , that is no excuse . They should know and understand all these things on how to deal with situations like that , because its their job for what they are paid for , by the tax payers . What they were seeing there , wasn't a suicide bomber or a party activist carrying 9mm or an automatic weapon . This is an unarmed person for God's sake who's " ALLEGED " for robbing people and who's pleading for his life with the personnel !

Please do not tell me that a half a dozen well trained personnel were feeling threatened by an unarmed person so to act like that . Why wasn't he arrested ? Why were they taking time ?

No , it doesn't , far from it actually . It sets a precedent that even the law enforcement agencies should mend their ways and learn to follow the rules of engagement , use reasonable and justifiable force and not kill people on allegations of petty crimes whilst literally playing with them instead of arresting them . They committed a murder , mate , what sentence should have been given to them anyways ? Why am I getting the strange feeling that law should work as some desire it to and not equally ?

It was the Iftikhar ch. was always looking to penalize army or any one related to it.
Otherwise, red mosque civilians, killed more soldiers for all the wrong reasons and ways.

i wonder why the case was brought fourth before the ATC.....makes no sense at all

I agree with your overall point.

My issue is the guy approaching angry Rangers and putting his hand on the firearm of an enforcement official. I mean - you have to be pretty retarded in the head to do that (it's dumb enough carrying fake guns, shyte like that gets you shot)

Manslaughter...not murder per se. And yes, there is a difference.

based on the footage which clearly shows unprofessionalism on the part of a few Rangers -- but also shows an idiot saying "majboori hai" and admitting to brandishing a fake gun not to mention cupping his hands around the barrel of a weapon, which could've been perceived as a threatening posture in the heat of the moment

i feel like i'm repeating myself over and over and over again. My views are my views, take em or leave em makes zero difference to me.

I dont respect the court's decision but oh well, cant do nothing about it.

No , that is the human fear response . You have four para military personnel pointing their weapons at you and threatening to kill you by actions/words . That is how an ordinary person will respond , its the same activated fight or flight thing , nothing more , nothing less . The trained personnel know how to cope with it , the civilian doesn't .

Yes , there is .

Lets set a precedent for other " trigger happy " and " unprofessional " personnel , that is a good thing actually . Letting them free or nominally charged would have set the opposite .

yeah and not focus on the REAL issues in Karachi....the fcking MQM/PPP/Lyari/mafia gangsters all of whom follow orders to kill when told to do so....divide people in the process.

as usual, priorities are fcked up

.
WTF?? This robber was clearly messing with the ranger and he deserves some shot in his ***.. What kind of Justice is this? Capital punishment is too hard.....
