New Delhi: A Pakistani diplomat was allegedly manhandled by around 10 people in New Delhi after his car was reportedly involved in a minor accident this evening.

Following the incident, the Pakistan High Commission has said it has lodged a protest with the Ministry of External Affairs saying the Government of India should ensure safety of its diplomats as per the Vienna convention.

The car of Zargan Raza, the First Secretary of Pakistan's High Commission, reportedly hit a two wheeler near the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus.

The Pakistan High Commission in Delhi says the diplomat was being chased by a motorcycle. There was an altercation after which the biker along with a group of 10 to 15 people beat Mr Raza and his driver.

Mr Raza has reportedly not suffered serious injuries.
