From Nasim zehras book on Kargil war.

Nawaz Sharif's is facing ten years. Next on line should be Musharaf with life sentence for sacrificing so many of Pakistan's young lions for no purpose whatsoever other then his own ego inflation. This operation was a strategic equivalent of a mass suicide. The men had no air cover, no artilley cover and limited to no logistics cover. What sort of planning is this?

And then to top it they were outnumbered ......

Multiple fake ID stray posting random pages. @Areesh
The 2002 stand off happened few years after the Kargil conflict and we all know how that ended for India.

Casualties[edit]
The standoff inflicted heavy casualties. The total Indian casualties were 789–1,874 killed. Many accidents during the mobilisation were due to the poor quality of mines and fuses[2][3]Around 100 of these fatalities were from mine laying operations. Artillery duels with Pakistan, vehicle accidents, and other incidents make up the rest.[2]

Cost of standoff[edit]
The Indian cost for the buildup was ₹216 billion (US$3.2 billion) while Pakistan's was $1.4 billion.[27]

With due respect I strongly disagree with you....

1. No air cover required for limited offensive on disputed territory.
2. When air force got on board air cover provided along with anti aircraft equipment (we shot down 2 fighter aircraft and one helo).
3. Operation was well planned and launched with the permission of P.M on the basis of India's Siachin adventure but political Govt failed to convey the world that we captured disputed abandoned land just like India did in Siachin.
4. We invaded from 5 points deep inside disputed territory and India knows and fighting on two fronts only even till the end of the war and from rest of the 3 location we have managed till date most of the heights.
5. P.M went to attend Clinton (Indian foreign minister chasing Clinton for 1 month to make him call N.S to put pressure) and he N.S feels his legs jelly when Clinton informed him about moving nuclear assets near to border (which is wrong) and then without informing or consulting military leadership he announced unconditional ceasefire which military had to obey.

Military success turned into debacle because of spineless political leader but we achieve military objectives to show the world real power of Pakistan army and weakness of Indian forces and intelligence network.

Any proof of this "Indian foreign minister chasing Clinton" statement?

From Bruce Reidel it seems that Vajpayee refused Clinton's request to meet Sharif.
Pakistani FM was kicked out of the meeting with Jaswant Singh in about 15 minutes and Singh even refused to shake hands.

Siachen adventure? Siachen was undemarcated.

May you have more such "successes".

Read your own author Barkha Dutt....I feel no need to present proofs to the people who claimed and believe that invisible monkey aka Hanuman conducted the surgical strikes. period.

LOL - hilarious -
"From the very beginning of Kargil operations, PAF was entrapped by a circumstantial absurdity: it was faced with the ludicrous predicament of having to provide air support to infiltrators already disowned by the Pakistan Army leadership!"

I've read Barkha Dutt. You don't have proof. As expected.

. . .
Kargil operations was conceived back in 1983 during Zia's time. and thru the years it was never approved for the exact reasons what happened in 1999!! Mushy was a nut case a loose cannon even Within the army. This guy nearly started a war specially at a time when country was facing multiple embargoes all around. This shows how smart our Army Brass is?? No wonder in countries around the world these army folks are kept under tight civilian control.

But mushraff ended up taking the CEO seat of Pakistan..and is still evading courts..boots are the real master of Pakistan and they have ruined Pakistan..unless PAK ARMY is not cut down to size..like some kind of self defense force on the lines of JSDF...it will be difficult to control their corruption with impunity..because gun is mightier than pen!
