Pakistan would have faced US, India after 9/11: Musharraf.

While his decision was prompted by his conviction that Taliban and its thoughts were not conducive for Pakistan, he was also concerned about the prospects of US troops operating from India to attack Taliban in Afghanistan violating Pakistan's sovereignty.

Bunkum

Where were his anti Taliban thoughts on 9/10 ?

It took a threat to be sent back to the stone age to make him make the porverbial U Turn and suddenly those who he & his regime loved till 9/10 were dropped post 9/11.

Dictators have this problem of thinking they are the smartest. Possibly because of a lifetime of being a Yes man and / or having Yes men around him forever telling him " Sirji Tussi Great ho "

I know Musharraf is a controversial figure, but he is admired in the U.S. because of this episode. I agree that he was strong-armed and was in a no-win situation. He did what needed to be done for Pakistan.

It's hard to describe the blood-lust here in the days after 9-11. Someone was going to pay, and the attitude was "God help the 9-11 criminals, and anybody in our way is going to get knocked over." It may not be right, but it was the reality at the time.

Musharraf walked a tightrope. He did what he had to do.

Exactly.

He knew the US would invade Afghanistan and, if Pakistan stood in the way, it would be run over and the Indians would be only too happy to oblige (logistically, without supplying troops).
