Pakistan will not handover Imran Farooq murder suspects to UK govt: Nisar

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said on Wednesday that Pakistan would cooperate as much as it could with the United Kingdom in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder case.

“We will coordinate and cooperate with Britain as much as we can,” Nisar said, briefing the media regarding his meeting with British High Commissioner Philip Barton on Tuesday.

However, the interior minister said the government would not handover any suspect to the UK government. “As far as handing over a suspect to Britain is concerned, I clarified to the high commissioner that we don’t not have an extradition treaty with them,” he said.

Further, he also clarified that his meeting with Barton was “pre-planned” and “purely coincidental” that it fell on a day when the MQM chief’s bail expired.

“My meeting was not related to Altaf Hussain’s detention.”

“It was reported I briefed him. However, I did not brief him nor will I brief any other ambassador.”

“I did not provide him any documents as that are beyond the scope of my duties,” he added.

Further, Nisar said he discussed multiple matters with Barton, including Altaf’s money laundering case.

Responding to a question whether the suspect arrested in Karachi for alleged involvement in Dr Imran Farooq’s murder, Nisar said, “I never said he was the prime suspect, I said he was the central character.”

“Moazzam Ali played a key role in facilitating the murder, securing a UK visa is not easy and he arranged it for the two suspected killers of the MQM leader,” Nisar further said.

Anyway, Pakistan cannot suddenly hand over arrested suspect. They'll interrogate him first before handing him over to UK. He's in custody for maximum 90 days, so plenty of time.

I like style of Ch. Nisar. He is assertive when it comes to other countries pushing around Pakistan. In the absence of extradition treaty, there is no reason we should hand over someone to UK. They are no longer our colonial masters and their international position is much weakened now. Besides UK provides shelter to corrupts and fugitives from all over the world in order to boost their sick economy and gain diplomatic leverage on those countries. They will not sign any such treaty because then people with black money will stop running towards UK. Hence no obligation for Pakistan to hand over the guy to UK.

ALTAF HUSSAIN accepted the offer of General Musharraf and decided to become part of Musharraf-sponsored coaltion government along with MUSLIM LEAGUE (Q).

Dr. Imran Farooq never wanted MQM to become yet another conventional political party doing power politics. Dr. Imran Farooq had wanted JINNHAPUR as per the original manifesto of MQM but ALTAF HUSSAIN was having different plans.

Dr Imran Farooq openly opposed this new policy of ALTAF HUSSAIN and was threrefore removed from MQM´s main advisory council. He became a threat for ALTAF HUSSAIN and paid the price.

The NEW SCOTLAND YARD UK must also involve officials of MQM stationed at MQM´s headquarters in London in the investigation of his murder. In particular, Saleem Shahzad must be thoroughly interrogated about the said murder for the sole reason that Saleem Shahzad is known for his specialization in such type of murders. Saleem Shahzad has a track record of several murders in Pakistan.

Dr. Imran farooq who is a leader of MQM aged 50 years, return back from home and he was killed near green Lane in London on 16th of September, 2010. After examination of post mortem they found that Dr. Imran was died due to various wounds as well as blunt trauma in his head.

In 1999 Dr. Imran appealed for asylum in London as he was also wanted in his own country Pakistan and charged number of cases which includes murder and torture but all the time he demanded the allegations were politically inspired.

Dr. Imran elected two times as legislator in Pakistan whereas he went for hiding in year 1992 where government give orders to the crackdown of military against the activists by MQM in Karachi.

His new party, the All Pakistan Muslim League, will launch its programme in London later this week.

Asked by the Sunday Telegraph about his reaction to Farooq's murder, Musharraf said: "It is terrible that such an assassination could happen in a place like London."
Farooq, who was married with two young sons, claimed UK asylum in 1999 alongside Altaf Hussain, the MQM's leader. Hussain, who also lives in exile in London, has said "enemies of the MQM" killed Farooq and they will try to kill him.
