I thought we already have TPS-77 no? Plus there is something interesting about HQ-9 is that it also has a variant that can intercept Ballistic missiles, Like THAAD so maybe Pakistan is thinking towards going that way but then I also remember the rumors about Pantsir-S1, remember one time PA showed Pantsir S1 in one of their banners, so that might be it as well, as for new Planes it would be either J-10C or F-16's from the US, only time will tell.

Personally, I would prefer to see HQ-9's and F-16's BlK70/V in PAF cause it creates a balance between Eastern and Western Technology which Previous ACM hinted at as well.

I am just unsure what "new" thing we can get from US. Surely ACM would not catagorise extra F-16s as "new", neither would the average Pakistani

F16Vs actually can be categorized as "new" if it comes with all its magical gadgets including AIM120Ds. But again PAF chief said that "looking into it /thinking". As far as air defense system is concerned, either radar or SAMs, that's clearly a done/signed deal, if you consider these words " by the end of this year PAF will have a new Air defense system".

I think anything Russian is out. Not just from integration perspective but now is certainly not the time to antagonise US and face CAATSA.

Also hard to see what "new" US would give us.

Certainly a European option to supplement SPADA 2000 or a long range Chinese option seem best bet. Even Turks chose HQ-9 in their original competition for long range SAM.

By 2047 doesn't mean that first 5th generation plane will be inducted infact by that timeline PAF will be fully converted into NG Airforce. So its more likely that we can have our first next generation fighter plane by late 2030's through Project Azm and ofcourse it will take atleast 10 more years for 7-8 squads to be completely integrated with 5th generation technology (not just the plane).

First phase will most likely start by the end of this decade with limited numbers leading the top tier. But most of fleet will be 4 th Generation. this phase will take around 5 years so you are looking at early operations of 5 G from say 2025-28 with induction and first squadron operational by 2028-30, it will take probably 5 years to fully integrate with existing force develop tactics and philosophy.

Second phase will most likely start by middle or late 2030 after PAF integration of Stealth capabilities tactics infrastructure and combat plans are sufficiently refined and developed. Here you will start seeing a balance fleet will be gradual increase in 5 G but the force will still be a mix of 4th and 5th Generation.

The third stages will start around or after 2040. PAF will start retiring remaining 4th generation aircraft to complete the transition to a full-fledged 5th Generation force.

Even the US will operate their F 16 and F 15 beyond 2040. and follow same timeline.

Good points, also let's not forget we will also need less than 400 planes. PAF has 18 odd fighter squadrons. Maybe we narrow down to 300 5th Gen into 14 squadrons?

i would too consider V as new with what goodies you have mentioned. it is bringing new and advanced US tech with it in many forms including US AESA, 120-D etc and how we play with it in comparison to AESA and new MRAAM in our own arsenal from other soruce.
